Samsung hln617w dlp tv won't turn on. Red temp

Samsung hln617w dlp tv won't turn on.Makes a five note musical bleep, fans come on and lamp light blinks, but shuts down after 30 seconds. Does this three times before all three idicator lights blink with temp light being red. Cleaned out dust, replaced lamp with one I had bought before. Nothing!!

More info- Before this happened the picture froze in gray colors. Also wouldn't I hear a clicking if the ballast was bad and trying to start the lamp? I hope your right though!! Thanks for your info.

Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.

It sounds like the main power supply has a bad capacitor. its a typical issue with a lot of electronic. look on the main power board that the outlet cord comes in to the TV and check all the cylindrical components for swelling, leakage, or singe makes.

Samsung model hlt4675sx\xaa projection tv wont work. the stand by/temp light flashes red and the lamp light flashes green? it makes the sound that it makes when it turns on but no picture. we looked at the...

It could be the temp sensor going bad. This sensor sits on top of the metal housing which the bulb assembly slides into. The bulb assembly will have a hole on top and this is where the sensor is above. There is a small blue and white wire that plugs into it. If you pull the wire out and put a paper clip or wire in the coupling you will basically bypass the sensor connecting the blue and white wire. If your tv turns on then that is your problem. Its cheap too. Here were my symptoms..1] Turn tv on 2] Bulb would light up..(which eliminates the ballast) regular picture would show up (which eliminates the bulb and color wheel) 3] 30 seconds later tv would shut down with 3 flashing lights. After bypass the tv turned on as always and hasnt shut down yet. Always un plug tv first. Get the replacement part to avoid overheating and possible fire

Red light comes on but then the tv is playing but after about 3 hours it just goes out but I can still hear the sound then if I go back after about 4 to 5 hours if I turn it on it plays no problem. Now the lamp just went. I think before replacing the lamp maybe I should replace cooling fan also.

My HLN617W dlp will turn on with no picture (sound is OK), then will seem to turn off, then back on again without me doing anything. After this ritual being repeated, the lamp and power lights will start...

The lamp is finished. Order a new lamp using the code on the side of the TV. Remove the lamp door on the back of the TV (4 screws) and then remove the lamp (1 screw). Have a look at the lamp... is it damaged? See my tips & tricks if you want to learn more about the lamp.

Samsung DLP HLN617W TV does not turn on, all 3 lights flash

In this case it seems you may have an issue with your ballast. Either it's going out or barely starting. I recommend you replace it

TV SAMSUNG 61 IN. HLN617W

Sounds like it is overheating. It has a sensor that monitors light engine temp and causes a shutdown. Possible causes are:
- dirty ventilation fan filters.
- cheap lamp that makes too much heat
- faulty temp sensor (I don't think this model is known for this)
