    Canon MP340 won't scan

The printer "black ink low" message has nothing to do with scanning. You don't have to disable the ink monitoring or do anything else with printer - to scan!
The printer is" waiting" for you to CLOSE a "Paper port 11" dialog box on your PC screen. If the dialog box is not open, check the task bar (bottom of screen) for anything with "MX340" in title, click on it then close it.

    good luck

Turn printer on ERROR comes on screen. Carriage jam Open Door clear carriage jam and then press OK to continue. I do this nothing found in carriage close Error comes up the same?? What to do?

    Joe,
Pull all of the paper out of the machine. Look for a wadded up small piece of paper. After you look for it. Examine the door slide tray where paper is stored. Look at take-up rollers... make sure slide drawers close easily...examine door where print cartridge is....Look at (on side) feed tray...Paper feed tray... If you fail get a flashlight and take another look it does not have to be a very large piece of paper...good luck

    C-0991 error on screen

First problem is for some reason your KMC 3130 crosses over to a Konica Minolta CF3102 and there is no C-0991 code listed for those machines. However, that C-0991 code is a common paper tray lift failure code on Konica MInolta machines.
So I would recommend opening and checking all of your paper trays to make sure nothing is binding them and that the paper is loaded properly.
Then open and close the large front door to reset the code.
If the code comes back then open all of your paper trays and LEAVE them open. Next open and close the front door to reset the code. The copier should now come to "ready to copy"
Then close each paper tray 1 at a time waiting 30 seconds between each tray closing. Once the code pops back up after closing a particular tray then you will know for sure which tray is causing the problem.
You can use the copier by leaving this tray open if need be.
    Good Luck.

    Laptop screen goes dark.

Is your computer setup to go to sleep when you close the lid?

Click on start -->control panel-->power options and then check the option that says choose what closing the lid does. You have to change this setting to 'do nothing' if you want the computer to stay on when you close the lid.

When i send a print nothing happens. I opened the lid to check for a jam. nothing. but when i closed it the screen on mu printer says carriage jam.....

Sounds like the "deadly embrace" problem...

Computer says to itself "waiting on printer status"
Printer says to itself "waiting on computer status"
    Results....nothing.

    Try this:
    1. Shutdown (using the normal operating system shutdown) the computer.
    2. Turn off and unplug both the computer AND the printer at the same time.
    3. Plug the printer back in first (and if necessary, turn it on) THEN
    4. Plug in the computer and allow it to start normally.

    Now try a print.
Let me know if this works for you.

    Open/Closing

CONTROL PANEL --> POWER OPTIONS --> ADVANCED TAB

Select "When I close my lid (or something to that effect)" and change it to "do nothing" or "ask what to do". There is nothing I hate more than a misbehaving hibernation mode!

    Close top cover

    Start by trying this.
Open the cover and look around for openings in the where the cover closes. In those openings there are interlock switches. 1 of 2 things have happened.
1, The switch may have become dislodged.
    2. Look on the cover you have opened for actuators, ( pieces of plastic sticking out) that would go into those holes to turn the switch on when closed. Those often break off.
One of those 2 items is your problem, The switch is just not being actuated properly.
Make sure nothing is binding the cover also.
