Water leaking from bottom of door

Water is leaking from the bottom of the door. Float is working fine. Drain is working. Is there a way to check and see if it needs new rubber gasket (the lining of rubber around the door and apparantly inside the door. Should I take apart the door to see that?

I realize this is an older thread but I've recently purchased a home with a Blomberg DWT 34240 dishwasher that was leaking from the bottom of the door and I successfully fixed it after trying the tips listed prior here without success.

I replaced the door gaskets and the dishwasher continued to leak. After a more careful examination of the inside it seemed to me that the lower spray arm (part number 1881300400 http://www.encompassparts.com/item/9506703/Blomberg/1881300400/Lower_Spray_Arm_Group ) had some minor damage and may not have been sealed properly. I ordered the new part for just over $4 and paid $8 for shipping from a local distributor.

Upon arrival of the new part I compared them side by side and the problem quickly became apparent. At some point the arm was damaged and at the end of the arm the seal was broken. This little bit of a break in the seal was enough to allow for some bending of the arm which positioned it directly aimed at the lower door seals when in operation. The water pressure forced water through the seals which are not meant to withstand pressurized water but rather standing water only. Since replacing the arm my dishwasher hasn't leaked a drop. I am very pleased because my wife was so fed up she wanted me to either get a repair man or replace it completely and this $4 part just saved me a grand.

I haven't seen this solution listed in any of the repair sites so even though this is an older thread I am hoping someone else will come across the information when they need it and save their dishwasher as well. These things run super quiet so I am happy not to have to get rid of it!

Try checking the Door Gaskets.. It maybe what is causing the problem.

Why does drain motor start when pushing the start button on the door before the door is closed?

It's almost certainly the float switch in the bottom of the machine. In the bottom is a polystyrene 'float' that is either active due to water in the bottom or is faulty. Tip your machine to the side and remove water and try again, bridge or replace switch is also an option

How to stop dishwasher from leaking out of the bottom left corner?

follow the next steps and fix it. God bless you
Dishwasher Not Leveled

This is a very common reason for a leaking dishwasher especially if this was a new installation. The framing in a dishwasher is made up of mostly thin sheet metal, so if it is not sitting flat and level things can get distorted very easily. Watch the video on leveling your dishwasher.

Door Seal

This is not very common in most dishwashers. To check this look for rips and distortion of the seal. If it is ripped or distorted you will need to replace.

Dispenser Seal

This is a more common place for a leak to develop. This is easy to check, remove the front panel and carefully inspect around the seal for water dripping or stainage. If any is found replace the dispenses ed19f28b-0f72-4aa8-a09e-69699854be01.gifgasket.

Water Inlet Valve

Usually it is the connection to the water inlet valve that ends up leaking. Check this connection ( there is usually some sort of adaptor between the valve and supply hose) for leaks. Check the connection on the back of the water inlet valve also. Ocassionaly a water inlet valve will leak around the solenoid in this case replace the water inlet valve.

Drain / Circulating Pump

Some dishwashers have separate drain and circulating pumps Some use one pump to serve both purposes. In either case you will need to check the housings for leaks along with all the connections. Some dishwashers have a seal that leaks down into the pump . This is easy and inexpensive to replace. Follow the tutorial on replacing the pump

Door Latch

The door latch can become loose or misalinged. Check both the striker and the latch. To adjust the latch you will need to remove the front panel and adjust the switch until properly aligned.

Door Hinges

They can cause problems, but this usually only happens from opening a heavy load of dishes on the door. Occassionaly a broken spring or cable occurs. You will need to remove the toe kick and maybe the front panel to inspect.

Water leaks out of the front of the dishwasher between the top door panel and the small cover that sits under it. Is it an easy fix and cheap or should I get a new dishwasher?

Hi

The issue is with the water not draining as something might be blocking the drain pump assembly thus the water is leaking. To solve this issue you'll have to take the front lower access panel out and then clean the drain pump assembly completely, also clean the impeller and chopper assembly located at the bottom of the unit. After this is done the issue should be resolved, if not then check the float switch mechanism and make sure that is fine. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

I have a Bosh Logic dishwasher SGS65L12GB/04 The other day it got to 1 min left and would not stop pumping out water and continued even with the door open. After 5 mins playing around it started working...

Hi Jonathan,

Welcome to FixYa.

Your float may have got stuck or it's possible that you have water leaking into the bottom of the washer. In the bottom of the wash compartment, next to the drain you will find a plastic dome/mushroom (the float). You might need to rotate the bottom spray arm to see it.

Turn the washer on so that the pump starts to run, open the door and push down on the float. This should stop the pump running. When you let go of the float, if it rises back up on its own, then it's almost certain that you have water in the bottom of the washer. If this is the case please post back for further assistance. If the float stays down, then it may have simply got stuck.

Please try this simple test and post back with the results.

Fault code f70, drain pump keeps running, nothing else works

Hi,

Yes. F70 is a flood in the base of the unit which activates the float switch and constantly activates the drain pump until the water has gone. Isolate the unit at the power switch and remove the bottom panel under the door panel. Dry up the water as best possible with a towel. You will see the float at the front. Run the unit again and check for any water leaks. You may just have over sudded the unit with too much detergent. Only use 2 teaspoons of powder. To start with while testing don't use any detergent. Good luck

Hope this helps.

Clog - water leaking out of front bottom

Remove the lower spray arms and the filter assembly beneath it. Rinse out everything you remove in the sink as needed.
With a flashlight, inspect the sump area down there and remove anything lodged in the drain area. Reassemble and run a short load, watching it closely for leaks from the front.
If problems persist, there are two possible problems:
a.) The float or float microswitch is not working properly.
b) the hot water inlet valve (selonoid valve) is opening but not always closing properly.
Post back here is you are looking for more specific guidance.

Miele g841sc dishwasher leaks

Typically the machine only uses 5-6 quarts of water, If you're floor is getting 1 or 2 quarts check for a loosly connected intake or drain hose. I've never seen any overflow drain on a Miele. It only fills the bottom of the tub. The machine uses a logic program that continuously checks the level of fill and drain by water pressure weight so it always runs with proper amount, even if your intake pressure is weak. Now, If you add too much soap then the bubbles can carry a few ounces over a worn door seal. If the seal is damaged then more spray arm water can run down the front of the machine into the float pan. But after it gets less than a pint of water the drain float will start thr drain pump and shut-off the machine controls and alert you. It won't let you run the machine until the water ( and the problem) is gone. Call Miele for help.
