Black border with some channels

You`ve mentioned that ON CERTAIN CHANNELS THE TV WORKS FINE, so your trying to say that not all channels THE BLACK SQUARE APPEARS IN THE MIDDLE O THE SCREEN... my be that black square is generated from the broadcast center. may be your unit is good. let me ask you how many channels that your tv works fine..?

Hi, hit the cc button on your remote control untill the close caption display says off, this should eliminate the box from your screen

To add a border on a page, try the following:

1. On the Format menu, click Borders and Shading, and then click the Page Border tab.
2. To specify an artistic border, such as trees, select an option in the Art box.
3. Click one of the border options under Settings. To specify that the border appears on a particular side of a page, such as only at the top, click Custom under Setting. Under Preview, click where you want the border to appear.
   
4. To specify a particular page or section (section: A portion of a document in which you set certain page formatting options. You create a new section when you want to change such properties as line numbering, number of columns, or headers and footers.) for the border to appear in, click the option you want under Apply to.
5. To specify the exact position of the border on the page, click Options, and then select the options you want.

Hubby spoke to the guys at Best Buy and learned that this was normal as there is no HD reception here.

Sounds like harmonic interference. A technician with a logic analyser may be able to find you a solution. Got to be a design flaw.

Do a hard reset or factory reset and it should work again

By your description it sounds as though the closed captioning option has been turned on on the TV. Only certain programs are CC capable and that accounts for the box moving from channel to channel as some broadcasts are not CC CAPABLE. Go to the menu on the tv and ensure closed captioning is disabled. This should resolve the issue. If you need more help please let me know.

Check to see that you don't have any channel locks or parental parental permission measures deployed. If so remove them, this includes V-Chip, and Parental lock out on the remote, and check your TVs menu items. What channel are being affected by this problem? Give channel number and channel type.

If a black box appears on the screen, and a small amount of the picture is visible around the border, it means that your closed captions are on and set to TEXT. Go back into the menu, navigate to the closed captions page and set the captions to OFF.

Check the resolution settings on your cable box, you may have to call your cable provider to find out how to get into the settings menu, there is a stretch function in the settings that should make all the lower channels auto fit your screen, also see if there's a p=size button on your remote control, try pushing that when on the channels that have sidebars.
