Sylvania LC320SLX 32 in. LCD TV wont turn on

There is short circuited component/s at its main power supply regulator board. Check and replace them. It is best to replace the circuit board as card bassis, rather than trying to repair it.

I have a Sylvania 6842PE 42 in. I was watching TV and then there was a loud pop. The TV turned off and then I turned it back on, but there is no picture only sound. Does anyone know the problem and how to...

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.

My 6842pe does not turn on. when I turn on it goes green light for couple of seconds and then red light

Hopefully only your power supply is to blame. Then you can repair it or get it repaired for a little more than $150 or get it replaced for about twice as much plus the cost of labor. If you or a repair person start testing the boards and see that one or more of them have also failed then the cost of parts and labor will go up. It looks like Encompass Parts has parts still available for this television and the power supply is $194.

When i turn my 42 inch plasma sylvania on, it makes a sharp high pitched squeal, then shuts off. it does this repeatedly, whats the problem, and how do i fix it?

You have a short on one of the drive boards making the power supply squeal. You will have to unplug each board until the squeal is no longer there. Which ever board it is will have to be replaced. Thanks for using fixya.

it isnt a fuse, if your fuse was blown, it wouldnt even turn on, even for a second, it is your Y-SUS board, you can order one through there website, i think

Power Supply

No. They are entirely different. Panasonic was the supplier of the 6842PE and Funai was the supplier of the 6842PEM.

Switches off

You have a power supply problem ,most likly the main board will have to be replaced, My best advice is to call out an authorized Sylvania dealer because if you make a mistake on what board is bad, they will not take it back. Play it safe. Good Luck
