The load in the drum is seriously out of balance at the start of the spin cycle and that is why the drum and tub are mounted on a fairly substantial suspension system.
The mountings of the suspension system and the springs or dampers take a real pounding so it isn't unusual that sometimes a spring will break or a mounting wear through.
Clearly it could be something else entirely but whatever the cause it needs checking with a degree of priority. There is a lot of semi-exposed wiring and circuitry inside that soon could be damaged, perhaps making repair uneconomic - "a stitch in time saves nine"...
Very likely the main bearing and drum shaft-inner tub will need replace. Not worth repairing, easily can cost more than the washer. Buy a new whirlpool front load duet, super capacity or the top load whirlpool with and agitator. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists
HI. The issue here will be with the actual motor coupler. It is damaged at this time. The clutch and coupler should be replaced asap. The coupler is responsible for transferring the rotative torque to the actual transmission(direct drive assembly). The clutch is a regulator. Once these components are replaced, the unit will operate properly.
Now. The actual parts cost will be $50.00. This includes the clutch kit, and coupler, as well. Total repair cost, if service is requested by a tech, will be $150.00, roughly.
WELL ITS VERY SIMPLE TO FIX ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TAKE YOUR LEFT LEG AND XTEND TO GROUND FOLLOWED BY YOU RIGHT NOW GO AHEAD AND HOP DOWN....NOW PLEASE TRY TO REMEMBER THAT SPIN CYCLE IS FOR CLOTHS ONLY...YOU HOUSE WIFES ARE SOOO FUNNY
Sounds like it may have been overloaded, or unblanced, I would say it would be better to replace....it can get pricey if the first fix doesn't work. Washers don't cost what they use to, get a scratch and dent sale item and save money too!
this is a collapsed drum bearing, one of the most costly of the repairs apart from the timer and motor, not normally a job for the diy man unless has an engineering background, sorry,
the cost of repair depends on the age and replacement cost of a machine, a bit like a car, would you buy an engine for a 20 year old car,
if you have a machine thats expensive then the repair could be worth it? stop running it you will cause more damage both to the clothes and the machine
sorry (ps i am a retired appliance engineer of 20 years service)
