If it was a scam shouldn't your yahoo be the same as normal?
If not try creating a yahoo account with the email address you used before.

Hope I helped

Over the last few weeks I have received emails not addressed to me. some of these emails have been quite distressing as they have asked for payment for various things and services which I know nothing...

Don't panic. Email can be sent by anyone, to anyone, with no verification of anyone's identity. It is not uncommon for scammers to target people with email. They send out 1 million emails in one click, so that even if only 1 in 1,000,000 people will fall for their scam, they still get something. It is illegal, but too difficult and expensive to pursue.

Do not reply, do not pay. Mark messages as spam in Yahoo and go on with your life.

I have some hack or virus that is sending emails from my yahoo account to my contacts with a link to a canadian company selling viagra and cialis, etc.. I want to stop this from happening...

Recently spam hackers have been hijacking Email accounts to use for their own dirty deeds and scams. The best thing to do is to deactivate your Yahoo account and make a new one.

Click here to go to the Yahoo compromisation web site and follow the instructions to disable your account.

The reason deleting the account is because these spam hackers are sending unwanted advertising to all your contacts claiming to be you. As far as you know they might even be sending emails to all your contacts asking for money.
There was a recent scam where spam hackers hijacked this lady's account and sent a message to all her contacts that she was stuck in Namibia and needed money to be sent to a specified account to get home.

To stop it, delete your email account, or if you are able to regain access, change your password to something a little more complex and define for yourself a few security questions only you would know. Another thing is just to contact all the people you had in your contacts and tell them that you account has been compromised and that they must ignore any emails received from it.

Hi, This is a type of spam or scam to get your personal information. Don;t reply to this type of scam and just delete the email that you receive. You may also receive from other company stating that you are a sole heir to a sum of money but in fact this is just a scam/spam.
Thank you for using Fixya, You high recommendation is highly appreciated.

Pay Pal sent funds to my yahoo mail after the account was closed

You can go into your Paypal account and add the other Yahoo email account to your Paypal account. Then you can claim the money sent to the other Yahoo account. You can have, I believe, up to 6 email accounts receiving money on one paypal acct.
