I have a 3 year old Bosch dishwaser that is supposed to be silent while it runs. It has now started being very noisy at the begining and end of the wash cycle. What would cause the loud noise and what is the fix?
Hello. The drain motor is what runs at the beginning and end of the cycle. You can take off the drain impeller cover, which is on the left side of the sump area under the filter screen. You will need a torx head screw driver which can be bought at any hardware store. The tip kind of looks like an astorics/star. This may be hard if you don't know what you are looking for. Any way take off the cover and see if something is hitting the impeller. If not then you will need to replace the drain motor, which can be removed, not very easily though, from the bottom front.
Warning: It can be hard to get the motor to install properly with out it leaking. You will need to make sure that the "O" ring is properly installed onto the the pump and you may need to put some liquid soap on it (the "O" ring) to keep it from binding.

Same issue. Have had this repaired a few times --- so much for German engineering. Once out of warranty and that bill was enough to drive me back to Kenmore!
One of th eproblems earlier was grease build up in the lines. They replaced a panel and also found that the booster wire was loose. I am not sure what the real problem was/is. However, now it has a low, grinding noise on the start and at the end and my marvelously quiet dishwasher is no longer marvelous or quiet
