It could be that the battery is at it's full charge. Do you have the correct power adapter plugged into the laptop? Is the battery older than 2.5 to 3 years? Deplete the battery by unplugging the power adapter and letting the laptop use up the battery and shutdown. Then plug the adapter back in and power up the laptop. Does it say charging now?
When you connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's power socket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.
you can try to conect the laptop directly to the power outlet without using the battery just to verify if it the battery or the charger itself..If it still power up the laptop, that means that the adapter is still working,if not, well obviously, its the battery itself
check to see if you can hear a hum from the charger it self , push the box hard againts ear if its humbing charger is ok, if you cant hear anything from it check fuse to plug. if this is ok then charger is broken.
If charger is ok check the conection into the laptop if it feels loose and when u move it slightly it goes on and off then possible conection to laptop prob.
If this conection is ok and the charger is humbing and working, could be a possible internal switch gone in the laptop that decides to charge and not charge when battery is full. These are always failling on laptops but hopfully its not this.
If you find the charger is broken search ebay for a new or secound hand one, aint to expensive. hope this helps
I guess first problem is Adapter Power can not established to run laptop.Or fault your laptop motherboard power regulator circuit .Repair it and check Adapter other laptop.
A fast check to determine whether you have a problem with the power
adapter, power cord or the laptop's battery is to turn off the laptop,
remove the battery, connect the power adapter, turn on the laptop &
see if it works. If the laptop works directly from the power adapter
with the battery removed, then the power adapter is good. In this case
we can suspect that the battery is defective.
If you have a multi-meter, check the power output on the adapter. If it's putting out the correct voltage (about 18 volts, as I recall), then it's the computer. If the voltage is not right, then replace the adapter. Hint: don't buy the adapter from the computer company. It'll cost too much. Use a reputable supplier of parts like this.
your motherboard is shot, or u need another power adapter put on the board! I can fix this for $35 for the adapter and $75 + part for the motherboard. www.computereworld.com
