I had used the SansaUpdater, DeviceRecovery, and the firmware software's on my sansa! it worked! but i had a new problem!

after the updates and recoveries! my sansa had been restarted!

when i opened it! it had a new image! the image should only be the word "SanDisk" right? but after thoses updates and recoveries, the new image was the sandisk logo which is the sandisk on the belly of a monster (http://www.flickr.com/photos/freddykgb/187034143/) that one! and my sansa is now on a "HANG" mode!

Then update your firmware:

SOURCE: sansa e280 recovery mode

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

You can update the firmware. This will return your device to factory settings and fix any internal errors. All your current content will be deleted.

Download this file:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/0mc3km

This is the firmware update utility for Sanca c140 (c100 series) devices.

There is a howto.txt file included, follow the instructions.I am posting the instructions here for convenience.

1. Download the attached file and save it on the desktop.
(the player should not be attached to the computer at this point)
2. Double click the file to run it.
3. Accept the license agreement.
4. Remove the battery from the mp3 player.
5. Press and hold the center (select) button and connect it to the computer (keep holding the button, this is the firmware update mode).
6. If the New Hardware Wizard appears (now you can let go of the select button), do the following: (if asked, choose not to connect to the internet for updates), then choose to install the device automatically, then follow the prompts to finish the installation.
7. When the wizard comes up, or when the Update button becomes active (whichever happens first), you may release the select button.
8. Click the Update button, and then click OK to the message that comes up.
9. Wait until the upgrade finishes, then unplug the device.
10. Put the battery back in, and turn on the player.
11. Hopefully the update will be performed, then choose English for the language when prompted.
12. Check if the issue is resolved.

I believe all you need to do is go to SanDisk's website, under Downloads, then download the Firmware Updater: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1376
After installation of Sansa Firmware Updater
* Please make sure your Sansa player is in MSC mode before plugging it in.
* Plug in your Sansa player and it will automatically check for updates.

Dude i tried your reponse and it worked but when i turned it on again it was still at refreashing data bass what should i do?

Fimrware upgrade needed. Also, if you are running Windows Vista, you need to go to Sandisk's website and get the Vista- compatible software.

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

Not saving settings...

You may need to take this to a SanDisk employee or updating your firmware again. (This means waiting for a newer firmware version of Sansa e260, they may have fixed up the bugs once they have a new update.) If you have used a SanDisk microSD on this device that has been formated, please do not use it again. The microSD is not a good accersory. It'll be worth it if you're sure that you can reinstall the Sansa each time it crashes, find a more stable software if you're not willing to risk it.

Sansa won't move

Try reloading the firmware. If the Sansa Updater says that you have the lastest firmware download the firmware manually and then run the software. In addition, tech support is fantastic with Sansa give them a call or e-mail. Best Regards, Keith
