DOES YOUR "POWER LIGHT" TURNS BLUE? IF NOT, IF STILL RED, YOU DONE! SYSTEM MODULE IS GONE!
OK: RELAX AND START WITH POWER SUPPLY MODULE. TAKE 3 MACHINE SCREWS(BLACK) OUT, RIGHT ABOVE YOUR IN/OUT CONNECTORS. YOU NEED TO RELEASE PLASTIC COVER, WHICH HAS A BIGGER SCREW IN A MIDDLE. TAKE ALL THOSE SCREWS OUT AND SLIDE PLASTIC GRILL DOWN, TILL YOU BE ABLE TO PRY IT OUT. THEN: SEE THE METAL SHIELD? ANOTHER 3 WHITE SCREWS AT THE VERY BOTTOM TO REMOVE.NOW, PULL IT OUT TOWARDS YOURSELF.NOTE: IT GOES INTO SLOTS AT THE UPPER SIDE. TAKE IT AWAY AND THROW IT OUT! DON'T USE IT ANYMORE! IT LACKS VENTILATION, THAT'S WHY YOUR SET QUIT!. LOCATE POWER SUPPLY BOARD(UPPER ONE), WHERE POWER CORD CONNECT TO. IT HAS 3-5 PLUGS. ONE TO THE RIGHT(2WIRES) THE REST AT THE LEFT SIDE. LOOK FOR BLOATED CAPACITORS, FIRST. FOUND NOTHING? SOME HAVE BALLAST BUILT INTO. HAS 2 18 PIN IC CHIPS ON THE LEFT SIDE AND THICK HV VIRES GOING TO THE PLUG. IN THIS CASE, YOU MUST REPLACE THIS BOARD.
IF NOT, MOST LIKELY CAPACITORS ARE THE PROBLEM.
GOOD LUCK,
ALEX'S TV.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Polaroid 42 LCD TV - Backlights turns off after powering on

The back light LED array is faulty. May be it would be difficult to get the LED Array Because its comes withe the LED panel. Try to consult Polaroid service center.

Polaroid 26inch lcd tvred standby light on but power wont turn on. I've unplugged the tv, changed the batteries in the remote. The tv stays with the red standby light only.

You need to open it up and checking the voltages in the power supply sections, you should have 5v (for logic circuits), 12v for sound, 24v for backlight inverter circuits. Look for bad caps with bulging tops in power supply also.

No picture on 32" Polaroid

Your inverter boards need to be tested and serviced, these are circuits designed to control the light behind the LCD glass panel. It could also be the power supply not feeding 24volts too the inverter circuits. In that case the power board would need servicing.

Take it back if its under warranty if not get it serviced at your local repair center..

No picture on TV with powerlight on

If you press the power button *on* your TV (rather than using the RC), does the power light still stay on red rather than turn green?

Dark Picture

...the answer is correct...the power inverter for the cathode backlight is a complete failure with these Polaroid models.  Polaroid should really step up and fix a known problem.  Mine was purchased as a gift and not opened until the worthless 3 month warranty expired.  Didn't work out of the box!!!! I will never purchase a Polaroid product again since they obviously don't care about the consumer and sell a product that they know was defective.
