Amana ALG443raw gas dryer

My dryer doesn't heat up as hot as it used to and a load now takes 2 - 3 hours to dry. Also, the automatic setting doesn't work (it stays set on less dry or more dry - where ever I set it initially). The timed sections seems to still work but it still has to go through the 70 minute cycle several times to dry the clothes. Thanks for your help!!!

Not a problem with the unit, you have a clogged vent. its generating the heat your e not exhausting the heat properly ck behind the unit for kink, perhaps the outside exhaust hood has a screen thats clogged. dont know where its located but if feasible disconnect the dryer vent and try running a cycle . bet it runs a lot quicker... CLEAN YOUR VENT ITS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD!!!!!

You might be on to something. A few months ago I had HR-FUR came in and clean my vents. They pulled the roof vent flapto seat behind the stopper and the vent won't open thereafter. The heat backed up in the dryer and the house. After that the probleem started. I replaced the control board and it worked fine for about 6 months. Now it started again. . Possibly the dryer was pushed back and the flexible hose is crimped. Thanks I will try that - oening the vent and put a piece of wood in the back of the dryer to prevent it from going back that ar.

My gas dryer doesn't heat very well, if at all. Do I need to replace parts or are there ways do check and clean parts.

First i would clean the dryer vent. If the vent is clogged then the dryer cannot circulated the air inside the dryer. This will cause long dry times. If the dryer heats at first then doesnt heat anymore after about 10 min you probably need new coils

I just bought a gas dryer - takes forever to dry clothes

check the high limit switch/thermostat on the burner housing and if they are weak they will cycle the heat off too soon and it wont build the heat you have it set for, just bypass it with a jumper wire to test it,if this is the problem, dont leave it bypassed, replace it as it is a safety feature to prevent a fire

Amana ALG443RAW Gas Dryer will not heat up.

you can remove the lower acess panel (2) 5/16 screws along bottom. youll get a good view of workings there. turn on dryer (make sure a heat cycle is selected. you should see the ignitor light with in a few secs. if not unplug the ignitor(small white connector maybe 6inhes back from ignitor itself) and with a meter ck for 110v in that connection when unit is turned on, if you do have 110volts , you hav abad ignitor. ifyou dont get 110 volts you need to check the thermostat(s) located on top of the heater box right above the ignitor, if no continuity you need a new thermo.
