Inspiron 600m laptop flashes the red light at the bottom of screen as if it needs charged, but it is 100% charged and is not hot or anything. It flashed red three times then green. I powed down unplugged and removed battery. I put it back in and it is still flashing red. Otherwise it is working fine. Does this mean I need to replace the battery?

When you use battery power, does the laptop work or does the battery die right away try letting the battery die itself, like use the laptop till it dies then charge it up again

The Dell Inspiron 600m will not power up when you press the start button. Battery is fully charged. BLY

Try draining the flea power first:

1. Remove the battery and ac adapter
2. Press and hold the power button for at least 10sec.
3. Put back the battery and ac adapter
4. Turn on the computer

If there is still no display, tell me if there is also any lights that flashes on the (numlock, scrolllock, capslock). Hope this helps

Laptop won't dock

The inspiron 600M will not function in a D-Dock, but will work in a D-Series port Replicator. (Although the D600 and 600M share the same motherboard, the bottom plastics are different)

After trying the 600M in the D-Dock, it is possible the dock is damaged. I would undock the D630, then delete the docked profile. power off, dock, and reboot and see if it detects and works.

Dell Inspiron 600m not starting up!

I had this same problem with my 600m laptop.  How many times do the lights flash, before they stop flashing?

Cause: There is a physical problem with the computer that it is detecting at startup diagnostics.

Solution:
You should have two pieces of RAM installed. Carefully, remove the memory slot cover.  Swap the 2 pieces of memory you have in there (please follow memory installation and removal for laptops to the letter, by never touching any of the electronic contacts and handling the memory from its sides). Make sure, they sit in the slot properly (to the best you can see). Then, place back the memory cover, very carefully, and screw in.  If you see the memory door cover not closing properly, the RAM might be improperly inserted.  Please go back to the swapping of RAM step. :)

If this didn't work, 1 of the 2 RAM's you have are no longer functioning properly. Please follow the steps to openning the memory door again and remove RAM in "B" slot first.  Then close it and try to start the computer.

If it still doing the same light flashes, open the memory door and remove RAM in slot "A".  then place the RAM you removed from slot "B" into slot "A".  Then start the computer again.

Dell 600m Laptop Killing batteries

If you are using known good batteries, and you have the most current BIOS Flash, then it is likely a failure of the charging curcuit on the motherboard. The flashing Amber (Some people see it as red) led indicates a failed battery

The Multiple good batteries, I assume have been recently purchased, because computer batteries are consumable and are rated for 300 to 500 charging cycles before they wear out.

I replaced my 700m motherboard with one from Ebay for about $170.00 about a year ago.
