Probably however if you upgrade the motherboard you will have to upgrade the CPU, and the memory, possibly the hard drive if the old board is IDE and the new is sata. Also you would have to upgrade the power supply if it's so old it may not have sata power connectors.
Hi, insert the cd that came with it, boot the system with it and follow step by step instruction on repairing and formatting the hard disk or get a windows operating system and perform the same.

install the software it came with (drivers software etc)you will need to reboot after.
if still is not working remove the software from control panel/remove programs after remove driver and device from the control panel/device manager and perform a disk cleanup from startup/accessories/system tools/disk cleanup-stop computer and remove card.Boot again and let windows login and run for few minutes.shut down again and reinstall card.boot again and make sure the installation cd is in the cd drive.if prompted choose to install the files from a specific location and give the cd drive location .
