525 telescope but no instructions

Mirrors are way out of alignment. Your manual does not have "collimation" instructions. I do not know if the user can align the mirrors. If not I suggest you return the scope and get a comparable scope from Meade, Celestron or Orion. If your scope can be aligned, follow instructions at link provided below

Maximum magnification on a perfect night is 150x with this scope meaning the 4mm supplied is worthless unless looking at the moon 700/4= 175x mag. Your scope may be out of optical alignment. Look in the manual for instructions on collimation or search the net for detailed instructions. I suspect the spider image may just be poor optics. If you are talking about 4 spikes at 90 degrees from each other radiating from the object, that is the spider vanes that holds the secondary mirror. Higher end reflectors have much thinner vanes to minimize this

You are about the 10th person to ask for this. These are being sold at Toys R Us and the "toy" really applies to this scope. If you can return it and buy this telescope for your child.

and no you cannot buy a usable scope for less than $200. No manual exists for your telescope, however Meade maintains a web site of manuals for all their telescopes. Look under the REFRACTOR heading on the below web site for one similar to your telescope. They all assemble about the same way, and Meade includes a section in the back of all manuals on how to use the telescope.

You will not find a manual for that telescope. However Meade maintains a web site for their telescope manuals. Look under REFRACTOR or REFLECTOR for one similar to your telescope. They all go together in a similar fashion.

You will NOT get 525 power from that small telescope. Yes I know the box said that but it was a lie.

An eyepiece might cost as much as you paid for the entire telescope. NEVER buy a telescope that advertises magnification on the outside of the box.
