I ordered a new belt for my zero turn. They sent me a belt that is close to 148" in length. this belt seems to be too long. there is no tention on the tentioner pulley. two pulleys touch and the blades will not speed up. Husqvarna keeps telling me that this is the correct belt.

Remove belt tension and test the tension pulley arm (55) rotates freely and spring (148) is in place. See attachment.

Husqvarna (USA) lists the belt as discontinued and no substitute. I find the belt should be 92.5" in. If measurement is questionable then take the belt with you to a local supplier and compare lenth of old belt to a new belt of known length 92.5".

Need diagram of how to put a serpintine belt on a 2005 chrysler pacifica

  • Hello and thank you for the opportunity to assist you.
  1. 1. The first thing you want to do is jack the vehicle up and make sure you secure it.
  2. Underneath the vehicle is an engine shield with two bolts that have to be removed and the shield dropped to expose the belt. This procedure is for the 3.5 or 3.8 engine See diagram below.

11_19_2011_7_11_55_pm.jpg
  • Now you take a wrench and put it on the tentioner which is the little pulley. When you put the wrench on the pulley push upward to relieve the tention and remove the belt. This procedure is also for both engines. See diagram below.

11_19_2011_7_15_29_pm.jpg

  • Now the next thing you want to do is compare the new and old belt to make sure the parts store gave you the right one. Check the length, width and teeth markings. Now install the belt. There are different belt paths depending on the engine size. I will list both.

  • For the 3.5 engine - Pulley #4 is the tentioner pulley. Put your wrench on this pulley to remove the belt.

11_19_2011_7_19_21_pm.jpg
  • For the 3.8 engine - Pulley #4 is the idler pulley on this one. Put your wrench on this pulley to remove the belt.

11_19_2011_7_19_44_pm.jpg

  • After you put the belt on you need to start the car and take a flashlight and look carefully to make sure the belt is turning properly.
  • Now turn the car off and re-install the shield and lower the car.
  • Job complete.

  • If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Seem to have a belt slipping problem. The motor runs but the belt is not turning. Have been trying to get new belts. IMPOSSIBLE !!! I have two machines...148 15600 and 385 1233280

Hi there,

I assume you need belts for both machines? Searspartsdirect (SPD) are the best place for Kenmore replacement parts.

There are 2 belts on the 385 1233280 - the timing belt and the drive belt. Both are in stock at SPD and can be obtained by clicking on the following link:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Kenmore-Parts/Sewing-machine-Parts/Model-3851233280/0582/1220000/00024020/00008?blt=06&prst=&shdMod=

If you hover over the exploded parts diagram you can see a larger view. The timing belt is number 7 and the drive belt is number 15. If you scoll further down the page you can add them to your shopping cart.

They also have both belts for the 148 15600. They are numbered 16 and 17 in this diagram:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Kenmore-Parts/Sewing-machine-Parts/Model-14815600/0582/1220000/00033316/00008?blt=06&prst=&shdMod=

Again both are in stock, and can be ordered by scrolling down the page and adding numbers 16 and 17 to your shopping cart.

Yoiu may be able to get these from a Sears store, but you can any which you need from here.

Hope this helps. Please post back if you need further assistance.

How do I loosen the pully for the serpentine belt

>>> NOTE<<< It is not necessary to adjust belt tension on the 3.7L or 4.7L engines., THE PROCEDURE FOR DRIVE BELT REMOVAL IS SIMPLE, USING A 15MM,17mm,or 18mm Wrench Get to the Center Bolt on the Tentioner Pulley, ( the SMOOTH NON-GROOVED Pulley) and turn to the Right and Left The Direction you feel the Tentioner SPRING Fight Against you will be what you Want they VARIE in Terms of Adjustment Loosening the Belt for Removal, Simply Turn it Untill Drive Belt is Loose Enough to Remove

On 3.7L/4.7L engines, the tensioner is equipped with an indexing tang on back of tensioner and an indexing stop on tensioner housing. If a new belt is being installed, tang must be within approximately 24 mm (.94 inches) of indexing stop. Belt is considered new if it has been used 15 minutes or less.
If the above specification cannot be met, check for:
  • The wrong belt being installed (incorrect length/ width)
  • Worn bearings on an engine accessory (A/C compressor, power steering pump, water pump, idler pulley or generator)
  • A pulley on an engine accessory being loose
  • Misalignment of an engine accessory
  • Belt incorrectly routed.

I am Confident this WILL Help you to Conduct the BELT REMOVAL Procedure.

How to adjust a tensioner on a 2001 chrysler voyager

You mean your belt tentioner, serpentine belt, it is not adjustable if your belt is coming off you have a bad tentioner, bad pulley or your power stering pump is leaken and your belt is soaked, if oilly firts found your leak (most common is a hose from reservoir to pump) then replace belt with a cheap belt (had lost of trouble with Life time or hi dollar belts), in the mean time also inspect your tentioner if ani play side ways replace it, also remove idle pulley and spun it close to your ear, if any noise replace it, you may get away with a single item changed, but for trouble free time, replace all items: belt tentioner ($38) idle pulley($25) serpentine belt ($25)

My deck belt on my 54 inch craftsman mower keeps slipping off - it is a brand new belt

have you solved your problem yet? was the belt bought from sears or somewhere else? do you have a diagram for the belt instillation? these are a few thing i would ask you. i belive your belt is a 196103 style belt the problem with this is that there several manufactures that call there belts a 196103 some ar 11/16 other are 5/8 wide and the range in length from 147-1/4 up to 148-1/4. next if you reverse the install order around the center spindle and tensioner it will have too much slack if these two things aren't your problem i would look for worn pulleys especially in the shaft of the bearings or a misaligned/bent pulley

What is adjusted in order to replace serpentine belt or tighten belt on 1997 GMC 454 3500 Truck? The air pump had siezed up- so I removed pulley and now have slack. Thanks in advance. Art

That serpentine belt system is designed to have all pulies in place.. The tention pully keeps it tight.. If you remove one of the pullies - the tention pully will not adjust that far..
The only options are - find a somewhat shorter belt with maching matching width and thickness.. Or replace the air pump..
Not the greatest news - I know.. But it is what it is my freind ;o)
