The valves are hydralic and require no adjustment. if noisey then a bad lifter/rocker arm/cam shaft may be the problem. also low oil level,or foamy oil from to much oil or a leak in the oil pump pickup system could cause noise

SOURCE: how to replace valve cover gasket 1998 chevy malibu

The first step is to remove all the parts that are in the way of you being able to remove the valve covers. (Ex.: air intake, loose wires etc.) Then you will need to remove your valve covers (using basic tools) and be very careful to not let anything get on your lifters, which your valve covers protect. Once you have the valve covers off compare the new gaskets to make sure they are the right size. Then remove the old gasket and replace with the new one using a high temp gasket sealant (available at any auto parts store) to attach the gasket to the valve covers. Then tighten down snug and check for leaks after replaced.

SOURCE: 2006 chevy malibu.... where is the egr valve

If it's a US car then there is not an egr on the 2.2L engine. I think some of the mexican and oversea's engines had them, but not here in the US.

SOURCE: Slightly adjusting the timing chain on a 98 Chevy

Your playing with fire to try to adjust something thats not designed to be adjusted even the hi dollar fancy racing teams are very careful going any from the factory specs as they have dynos and scopes and way more money to spend than me and you. No stock engine being used as a daily driver should be changed unless it's back to standard. Your stepping into deep **** unless you have deep pockets to deal withblown mototers and other bad stories. I know them and I can write them

SOURCE: Where does the flasher go on a 98 chevy malibu

Replacement The turn and hazard flashers are integrated into one flasher on these models. The flasher is located in the hazard warning switch and the hazard warning switch is located on the trim plate. Replace the flasher by unplugging the old one, removing it from the panel, and plugging in the new one.

  1. Remove the bezel from the ignition switch.

My 98 Chevy Malibu v6 3.1 liter engine high idling

You probably have a large vacuum leak. With the engine running, listen under the hood for a hissing sound. Check all of the rubber lines running from the intake.

Lifter valve trouble (maybe) on 1983 malibu

Hi there,Sounds like the valves are over tightened. You'll have to pull the valve covers off to adjust while its running to adjust them right.Another way you can test it is to give it a compression test to see if the valves are either staying open to long or closed to long. While its running and covers off you will get some oil spray so have some clothes ready. Now to eack valve you will have to loosen it until it starts rattling and then slowly tighten until rattle is gone and then another 1/4 turn..Do that to all of them then your valves all will be adjusted. Also double check firing order to insure correct timing..Hope this helps you and have a great day

Valve clearance

these are hydraulic valves, no adjustment needed, with both valves fully open u back them off until they (rocker arms) are just slightly loose, then tighten them 1/2 turn, follow the firing order of the engine and bring it to top dead center (compression stroke) for each cylinder.
