Whirlpool dishwasher WDF520PADM5 won't drain. It will run through a cycle, but leaves a few inches of water at the bottom.

If the garbage disposal is clogged, the water from the dishwasher cannot drain. Most of the time the dishwasher drain hose is connected into the garbage disposal. Check to be sure water flows freely into the garbage disposal. You should hear it running into the bottom of the disposal when the dishwasher drains. The line connects to the garbage disposal at the top of the disposal with a hose clamp. If you undo it take the hose off and make sure the punch out inside the disposal tube is all the way punched out and there are no restrictions in their..ie stuck food particles or something else. Unplug the disposal when working on it. Just to be safe.
Hope this helps.

How do i fix an SE error code on my Samsung dishwasher

The SE or 5E error code means "Draining Error", which coincides with what you observed. First check the drain hose for an obstruction, especially where it goes into the garbage disposer (and check the garbage disposer port to make sure it is clear too). If that's okay, then you will have to pull the dishwasher out to check the drain pump. Chances are, some foreigh object has gotten into the drain pump, and is blocking or partially blocking the water flow. If everything is OK, then you probably have a bad ECS sensor, and will have to replace it. If most of this is beyond what you want to do, at least check the hose at the garbage disposal end before you call a repairman.

For Miele Dishwasher G2470SCVI Need help with remaining water in the bottom. Model# G2470 SCV1 SF Type-HG03. Runs through the entire cycle, long, short ect..everything is clean and dishes look great but

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Belt, Water Pump Although few dishwashers have a water pump belt, if the dishwasher won't drain there might be a worn or broken water pump belt. After removing the lower kick panel the motor can be seen in the front, the water pump belt is on the bottom of the motor.

Drain Pump If the dishwasher won't drain, the drain pump might be defective. Test the pump motor with an Ohm meter. Drain pumps are not repairable, if it's defective it will need to be replaced.

Drain Impeller The drain impeller is attached to the pump and pushes the water out of the dishwasher, through the drain tube and into the garbage disposer or drain line. If the dishwasher won't drain, the drain impeller might be broken or worn out. Replace both the impeller and seal at the same time.

Drain Solenoid Kit If the dishwasher won't drain, the drain solenoid kit might need to be replaced. The drain solenoid is an actuator that opens a flap to allow the water to drain.
Drain Valve The drain valve can get clogged with debris and should be cleaned out if the dishwasher won't drain. If it seems clear of debris but won't actuate, it will need to be replaced. The drain valve is not repairable.
Pump and Motor Assembly If the dishwasher won't drain, the pump and motor assembly might be defective. If the motor runs during the drain cycle, check for a blockage in the drain line. If the motor won't run during the drain cycle or if it just hums when it should be running, the pump and motor assembly might need to be replaced.

Clogged or Improperly Installed Garbage Disposer If the dishwasher won't drain and the garbage disposer was installed recently, the installer might have forgotten to knock out the drain plug from this disposer. All garbage disposers are sold with a solid plug in the drain tube for situations where a dishwasher isn't connected. However, if the dishwasher is connected, the plug will need to be removed. If the disposer wasn't replaced recently, remove the dishwasher drain hose from the disposer and clean out both the fitting on the disposer and the end of the drain hose. These are the most common places to find an obstruction if the dishwasher won't drain.

Drain Hose If the dishwasher won't drain the drain hose might be clogged. Remove the drain hose from both the dishwasher and the sink drain to clean it out. The most common place for an obstruction is at the garbage disposer.

Check Valve If the dishwasher won't drain the check valve might be stuck closed. The check valve is a small plastic device which prevents water from returning to the dishwasher after it has drained. If the valve gets stuck closed, it will prevent the water from draining. The check valve is the device that the drain hose is attached to on the dishwasher
Check Ball If the dishwasher won't drain the check ball might be stuck. The check ball is a small plastic ball in the check valve which prevents water from returning to the dishwasher after it has drained. If the ball gets stuck, it will prevent the water from draining also. The check valve is the device that the drain hose is attached to on the dishwasher.

Our sink and garbage disposal was clogged up. We got the sink unclogged, but the dishwasher had dirty water in the bottom and won't drain.

Your dishwasher drains into the garbage disposal. It you tried to use a plunger to clear your clogged sink or run the disposal with to much junk in it you may have force debris into the dishwasher drain hose. With both the dishwasher and garbage disposal disconnect from power disconnect the dishwasher drain hose from the garbage disposal. This is usually about a one inch black hose. Clear out any debris in the hose and inlet nipple on the garbage disposal. If debris is compacted far down the hose it will need to be disconnected from the dishwasher end and remove to clear the blockage.

Good luck!

Cycle finishes but water is not draining

Sounds like too much water leftover.

Give me a make and model number of the dishwasher.

Check that the drain hose isn't kinked, and that where the drain connects at the garbage disposal at the sink isn't partially clogged. And, is the garbage disposal clean/clear of food stuff's.
I had a similar thing happen to me a few weeks ago, and it turned out the kitchen sink drain line was clogged.

Can i connect my Hoover HD73M Dishwasher to a cold feed?

First off, you need a hot water feed line for your dishwasher, not cold water

Secondly, if you have a garbage disposal installed on your sink you can connect the dishwasher drain hose to the side port on the garbage disposal. That's what that little port is for anyway. If you do have a garbage disposal and hook the dishwasher hose to it then make sure you take a hammer and screw driver and knock out the little plastic plug that's inside the garbage disposal port before hooking up the hose to it, if you don't you'll flood your kitchen.

If you don't have a garbage disposal on your sink, then you're going to have to replace a piece of your sink's drain piping with a wye (Y) tailpiece. The tailpiece has a small branch that comes off it to where you can connect the dishwasher drain hose.

Regardless of which way you hook up the drainage and water lines, make sure you test out the work you did by running the dishwasher and keeping an eye on it. I can't tell you the number of times i've seen people hook up stuff like this and not test it and then when they go to use the dishwasher it floods the kitchen..... usually when people are sleeping at night. Test your work.

Oe code on LG dishwasher following garbage disposal replacement

Hi. I just had the same trouble. Your garbage disposal comment there gave me an idea. The drain hose from your dishwasher likely goes to the garbage disposal and then out the drain. My hose had a little blockage at the joint where the hose goes into the disposal. I was able to clear it just by giving it a wiggle....all is well now.

Good luck.

Kenmore Built In Dishwasher

the obstruction they talk about in the disposer, its where the connection for the d/w drain is made, there is a "knockout" plug within the drain line connector( in case you dont have a d/w) that would need to be removed before the d/w will drain. can be popped out with a good smack with a screw driver, the plastic knockout will land within the disposer. disconnect power and remove the plug, it will not break up and wash away
