Can I connect a Computer to a Techwood DDR 94 AV Digital Surround Receiver so that I can listen to radio stations online?

Likely a short on one of your speaker wires. Might be overheating, but a short would be my best guess.

What if the soundbar is Bluetooth? Will I still be able to use that function and connect the active soundbar to the tv (Bluetooth) and connect the av receiver for other surround sound speakers? (they are pre-wired in the walls in the apartment I moved into)

The difference in sound between an HDTV television and an analog television is rather noticeable. In fact, it is directly analogous to the difference between the music on CD's compared to the music on audiocassette tapes.

The difference in sound quality provided by HDTV televisions and programming does not end there. Many HDTV programs are also broadcast in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound, but in order to take full advantage of this technology, it is necessary to have the right equipment.

Dolby technology has been created by Dolby Laboratories, Inc. This technology is the most renowned provider of digital audio technology. Also, Dolby Laboratories is known for reliable and superior products. For these reasons, Dolby Digital Surround has become the standard for HDTV. Many television manufacturers substitute their own surround sound systems, but they cannot live up to the reputation and performance of Dolby. Therefore, it important to check the specs on an HDTV television before buying in order to ensure that it uses Dolby Digital Surround.

When using Dolby Digital Surround Sound, there are three options for set up. The first option is to buy a television with high quality center channel speakers, woofers, tweeters, and Dolby technology installed in the television. With this option, it is unnecessary to buy addition equipment to take advantage of Dolby Digital Surround Sound.

Another option for taking advantage of the Dolby Digital Surround Sound with an HDTV is to connect an external set of surround speakers to the television. With this option, the surround sound set up includes a front pair of speakers, a surround pair of speakers, a center channel, and a subwoofer. Sometimes, the front speakers are "powered towers." This means these towers include subwoofers.

The placement of these speakers is very important for the quality of the surround sound. The Center Channel Speaker should be centered either above or below the television. The Front Left and Right Speakers should be placed in an arc formation in line with the Center Channel Speaker. How do I connect my CD player?

A CD player can be connected to an AV receiver. The CD player's digital audio outputs can be used to connect the CD player to the AV receiver. A CD-Recorder can also be connected the AV receiver by using the Audio Tape Record/Playback input/output loop connections. In this way, the CD-Recorder will be able to function much like a standard audiocassette deck.

What else will I need?

Besides the basic electronic equipment needed to set up Dolby Digital Surround Sound, it is necessary to have connection cables. This includes video, audio, and loudspeaker connection cables. These cables need to be at an appropriate length in order to set the speakers in the proper position for optimal surround sound quality.

You didn't give a dock station model number, but I'll assume it has RCA (round red and white outputs). Connect the wire from the back of the dock to the preferred (red and white) input on your receiver. Change the channel on your receiver and you're set. Good luck!

Listening to the radio

The following steps show you how to tune in to FM and

AM radio broadcasts using the automatic (search) and

manual (step) tuning functions. If you already know the

frequency of the station you want, see Tuning directly to a

station below. Once you are tuned to a station you can

memorize the frequency for recall later-see Saving

station presets below for more on how to do this.

1 Press the FM/AM button to select the tuner.

2 Use the FM/AM button to change the band (FM or

AM), if necessary.

Each press switches the band between FM and AM.

3 Tune to a station.

There are three ways to do this:

Automatic tuning

To search for stations in the currently selected band,

press and hold TUNE ?©/?? for about a second. The

receiver will start searching for the next station,

stopping when it has found one. Repeat to search for

other stations.

Manual tuning

To change the frequency one step at a time, press

High speed tuning

Improving FM stereo sound

If the TUNED or STEREO indicators don't light when

tuning to an FM station because the signal is weak, press

the MPX button to switch the receiver into mono

reception mode. This should improve the sound quality

achieve optimal surround sound from FM radio.

• While listening to FM radio, press AUTO/DIRECT for

go audio out of you sat box into a 2 channel amp or into your surround receiver if you have a 2nd zone, if the surround receiver is 7.1 u can most likely hook them up to the surround back and then change the setting to be a 2nd zone instead of surr back hope this helps.

switch the HDMI cables around to make sure its not one of them, if the problem is one of them it will move with the cable,if no change i would suspect the coaxial cable next.

Is Yamaha HTR-640 a receiver? Try HDMI from PS3 to receiver or Sony HDTV. If HDMI from PS3 to receiver the you need and HDMI from receiver to out Sony HDTV. You could connect everything to receiver and HDMI out to HDTV. You can not have an HDMI cable AND an optical cable coming out of the PS3, only one or the other.
