Hi, I have a Bosch freestanding freezer (GSD14A20GB) and recently defrosted it using a hairdryer, I now know that this was not a good idea as the following occurs when I switch it on: -Freezer appears to start working. -Within a few seconds it stops and the alarm begins to sound intermittently and continiously. -Freezer then has to be switched off because the alarm keeps bleeping. I hope someone can point me in the right direction on this. Thanks.

Hi, thankyou for helping me out.
-Firstly, I am not sure if there is a circulating fan in the freezer, where would i find it?
-The freezer tries to stert up, but seems to stall and shut down within a few seconds, it is then that the alarm starts to bleep contiously.
-Do you think i have damaged any components by using a hairdryer?

    Thanks again for any advice.

Is your circulating fan working?
Sometimes they stick and need a shot of WD 40 and then work
it back and forth a little until it wants to take off again. Keep me informed
and PLEASE give a Thumbs Up for the effort. The Raz Shack

No you wouldn't have hurt anything with the hair dryer. Probably just a relay switch back by the compressor. You have to look for slits in the walls for the fan and remove the wall it is behind but I wish the fridge would stay on long enough for the fan to kick in so you didn't have to tear the wall out for nothing just in case. But I hads the feeling it is not the fan any how because the fan shouldn't shut the compressot off. At least not with my experiance in the last, Well since someone invented dirt. LOL. I wish I could be of more help on this. When you turn it on then be listening down by the compressor in the back and see if you can't here what sensor relay is shutting down. Thats the best place to start from here. Please leave me a good Thumbs up for trying, Thanks, Raz

How do you know your Bosch Fridge Freezer needs defrosting?

Most home refrigerators share the same cooling coil for both compartments so in order to defrost the freezer that coil has to be disabled by pulling the plug. You havent mentioned the brand of refrigerator that you own but i am guessing that you have an automatic defrost. Can you hear a fan running inside the freezer compartment when the door is closed and the compressor in the back is running? If so your freezer will automatically defrost. The ice you probably see collects on the shelving or inside walls. Generally you can take the plastic handle of a screwdriver and gently tap the ice to get it to crack and fall off. Take care not to hit cold plastic parts or panels, they may crack or break. Otherwise I would get the model of the refrigerator and go to the manufacturers web site and post your question to get a positive answer. Good luck!

Help, i turned by Bosch Logixx GSL 14424 GB freezer off to defrost and it now won't turn on...

Turn it round and check the electrics for the compressor are dry. You probably flooded them when defrosting and may have shorted something. If it still won't start with everything dried out, call a fridge technician

Our freezer is not de-frosting, there is a build up of ice

Sometimes ice will build up because of hummity. dont know where your at but best thing would be to get everything out and turn off . and defrost manually we used to do this on old friges with a hairdryer. it takes a while. when you start it back up make sure the seal seals good and if ice builds up again the your going to get to call repair man. Hvac and all compressors go through defrost mode. You may have so much ice it wont defrost, also a full freezer works more effecient than empty.

How do you defrost the kelvinator cyclic 300 fridge?

hi,
a manual defrost? unplug and get a 9by11 cake pan and a bunch of towels and a hairdryer. put the hairdryer on LOW only and get it positioned in the freezer (door) compartment so its pointing towards the back. cake pan in the bottom towels below. and on the floor. leave the door open about 3 or 4 inches but NOT shut so you have some air circulation. and check it frequently. make sure the hair dryer isnt pointed at the plastics at all. takes a day. pull it from the wall, remove the rear access cover behind the fridge and blow it out with a vac or air compressor too. theres an access panel inside the freezer and if your handy, your ice blockage causing that problem lives behind there in the freezer. use caution if your going to attempt taking that plate off inside. use nothing sharp.

Freezer MQU2057: Maytag freezer on bottom froze up (literally frost...

Your tech doesn't have the issue completely fixed. You have a defrost issue and defrosting manually is just the start to resolving your issue. You have to diagnose why it fails to defrost. You have a heater, control thermostat, frost sensor, etc. to check for a failure after defrosting it. Get someone that knows how to complete the job right!

I have the same problem

Most probably defrost thermostat is defective. Unit never goes into defrost, ice forms on coil and in floor of freezer. After defrosting may work OK for a week or two but gradually gets warmer because ice is blocking ports where cool air gets to refrig. May also have water in refrig box. Can also be caused by defective defrost timer. This can also be caused by the drain hole being blocked by ice. You MUST remove all ice in drain under freezer coil. Use turkey baster to squirt hot water into hole and use hairdryer to defrost.

Top of freezer is warm and bottom is forming ice. What do I replace?

The cause if no defrost cycle , remove the panel where the ice is and derost with unit unplugged , use a hairdryer or similar to defrost ice , make sure its all defrosted , check the heater under that coil to make sure its still intact.
Also check the defrost timer , there may be a wiring diagram on the back showing where this is located.

Water leak

probably the defrost drain blocked. remove back panel from inside freezer and melt ice off with hairdryer and follow up with hot water till water flows away freely.
you may find all the pipework iced up and if so you have a problem with defrost system.
an alternative way is to switch off for 24 hours and leave doors open
