Have you tried updating the software on your device.
Go to Magellan.com and download the Magellan Content Manger:
http://www.magellangps.com/products/map.asp?tab=0&PRODID=2216
Once you've installed Content Manger onto your PC, connect your device to your PC using the USB cord. The Content Manager will allow you to update your 1340 with the latest software and updates which 'should' fix the problem that you're having with your unit.

I'm having the same problem. If it won't make it past the logo, the context manager can't detect the unit.

I am having the same problem. Even after installing content manager, nothing works out for me. Looks like context manager cant detect the device, still clock is keep on moving. Do we have any other solution?

Just received my repaired roadmate 1340 from the company. Have connected USB ...Where can I get a copy of the pc application. I cannot find my original CD

Hi,
You can download "Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1" straight from Microsoft. This is the latest version to use with Vista and Windows 7.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/device-center-download.mspx

If you are still using XP, then do a Microsoft search for "Microsoft Activesync".

This is really all you need. Thanks, Bill

Can I charge my Magellan roadmate with USB cable connected to the computer?

It depends on the Roadmate that you have. :
- If your Roadmate has a separate plug-in port for charging your unit IN ADDITION TO a USB port, then no, your Roadmate cannot be charged using your computer via the USB cable.
- If your Roadmate only has a USB port available for charging your unit, then yes, you can charge it via your computer via USB.
However, please note, according to Magellan, charging your unit using your PC via USB can take up to 12 hours to charge vs. 4-6 hours when using the vehicle power adapter.
FYI: This is mainly due to USB constraints on pretty much all electronic devices. USB cannot carry the same amount of power to a device. It uses what is commonly known as a 'trickle' charge to recharge a device. It carries much less current than a full-blown charger (like an AC power adapter).

Turns On but not past the loading screen

Hello :

I recommend you to reset your RoadMate .

To reset your RoadMate please follow these steps :

1: Locate the button marked "Reset" on the left, right or bottom of the unit.

2: Using a thin object, such as a paper clip, depress the button for two to three seconds. The unit should reset.

3:If the unit does not reset, immediately press the button again and hold it for up to 10 seconds.

NOTE : Please don't attempt to perform a factory reset on the Roadmate or Maestro GPS units by holding down both the "Reset" and "Power" buttons. This will cause the GPS unit to format its own hard drive. Doing so will erase all data, including the GPS software, from the unit.

This solution should help with your problem . If that didn't help , then I recommend you call Magellan service for help .

Can I charge my magellan roadmate 1340 using the USB?

Should be able to so long as it is set up for it, plug it in and see if the power light comes on, then leave it for an hour, at that time see if you can turn the unit on. You will at this point have your answer to your question. Make sure the computer is on though. (i know, but i didn't put that in one time and i got a nasty message from somebody, so now i put it in.)

Blue screen with magellan logo , this is what I see after turn on my gps receiver, I tryed to push any button but anything change on the screen, to shut it off i have to use 'enter' ,'cancel' and power...

This is the boot screen, Remove the power connection, and reinsert while you press the "Cancel" button at the same time, if done correctly, your Roadmate should continue to boot and enter the user mode.
