sounds like the drive treads are clogged with fabric from the chair. Unzip front fabrics to expose mechanism and check for a jam. Unplug unit and carefully remove jam with pliers

We found a repairman!!
Our 10 yr old EMS-9 Interactive Health chair just stopped working about 6 mos ago. After getting no help at all from Interactive Health, except to buy a new chair (!), we finally found a man who fixed it. It was a pinched wire in the remote. A simple fix. He tried to charge us only $20.00! (We gave him much more, it was worth it) We love this chair! You would think that the company would be more forthcoming with repair options if they want people to recommend their products. Anyway, hope this helps someone else too.
