Ethernet (wired) connection to computer works but "wireless" light does not come on and my laptop cannot locate a wireless access point or network device. It has worked in the past but after...

You will need to get a hold of att. They will need to have you unplug the 2wire and then reconnect. They will need to reset the gateway from their end. good Luck.

How to set up uverse home network with 2wire gateway

To use AT&T Uverse for a home network, you need to get the AT&T "Homeview" Network Management software. AT&T provided this software in the past freely.

This software must be run on each PC on your home network, and then each PC can see the others. You then use go to My Computer, select each disk drive you want to share, right-click and select Sharing and Security, and select to share the drive. Then go on the drive to the folders you want to share and right-click and set them to be shared. Then the Homeview system will show these are shared folders. You can also share printers on the same network using the Homeview software.

Lost connectivity to network printer when switched to ATT u-Verse

Is the printer connected via wireless? When I recently connected up a new wireless printer to my UVerse network, the printer manual said that establishing the first connection works better via an Ethernet cable directly to the Uverse router. After the printer is set up once, then I could remove the ethernet cable and connect to the printer via wireless from all my computers.
For all wireless PCs that were previously connected via wireless to dsl, you need to create a new network connection for each one, then enter the key that is listed on the side of your Uverse router when prompted. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to establish the connection.
I am amazed that ATT was so unhelpful on these issues. I was one of their first Uverse customers in Texas, and several times over the last years, techs would visit my house to solve a problem or hook something up, explaining to me as he went. That their helpful attitude is deteriorating is a real shame.

I want to use 2 wire ATT UVerse -- BUT NOT WIRELESS

the 2wire att uverse router, does not broadcast wireless signal if there is no wireless computer connected to its network. regarding the unchecking of the ssid, it will only hide the network name of your router, but technically, if a computer will try to connect to your router, it will still "send" wireless signal to a computer within its range.

you do not have to worry about the wireless signal being sent, if nobody connects to the router via wireless cionnection.
