Connect your computer directly to the Internet modem and make sure that you have Internet access directly from the modem.
If that is working properly then connect the modem to the Internet port on the router. Connect the computer to port 1 on the router.
Reset the router and configure it manually.

Hi leftella, First of all, I would like to ask you few questions. 1.Who is your ISP(Internet service provider) like verizon, Bell, Comcast? 2.How many ports you see at the back of the Modem?like WAN, Ethernet, LAN, DSL, Data? 3.How many ports you see at the back of the Router?like Internet,Ethernet,WAN, LAN? 4.What is the make and model of the laptop with which you want to go wireless?
To setup the router you don't need any CD, just need to connect the Modem to router and router to your computer with hard wire Initially and then after setup, you can go wireless.

Connect the cable from the LAN port on the DSL modem to any of the 4- LAN ports on the Linksys Swicth (not the port Labelled Internet), then from any of the remaining 4 ports then connect your computer. Also try using a cross-over cable to modem from the DSL LAN port to the Linksys.

Your ISP is verizon DSL.
It is very easy to set up the router with DSL.
first check if you are ale to go online when connected only to the modem.

Try to change the LAN IP address of your router to 192.168.2.1 by accessing the router's Setup page. You also need to set your Westell modem to "full-bridge mode". You need to ask assistance from your ISP to bridge the modem. After that, set-up the Linksys router to PPPoE then power cycle it.

The ethernet cable needs to be run from the dsl modem to the plug marked "internet" on the back of the router.

With related to your particular issue it seems like that your broadband modem is not configured for the router. There are basically 2 types of connection. DSL and Cable modem. Verizon, ATT are DSL and comcast other providers give you a normal cable broadband connection. If its comcast make sure the cable from the comcast modem is going to the internet port in the linksys router and also make sure that there is a system connection the linksys router and the cable from the system goes to any of LAN 1, 2, 3 and 4 ports. Then reset your cable modem by using a pin and inserting to the reset hole in the modem. You could use the same step to reset your linksys router as well .If its a verizon or dsl connection you need to put normally your username and password in the router page. here is the link to how to configure linksys for your internet modem.

Make sure you have a modem and internet is working. You only need one computer to setup the router and once the router is setup, then you can connect the nintendo wii and it work automatically.

Do you have your DSL set up with just the modem connected to one computer? You mentioned that "there is no internet connection problem without router". If you don't have the internet connection working without the router anyway, then how do you expect it to work with the router?

First, you need to make sure that you can plug in one computer to the modem and get an internet connection. This needs to be done with the Verizon Setup CD if you haven't done it already and by connecting your computer to the modem with the USB or Ethernet cable (you can use only one.) I would recommend using the Ethernet cable since this is what you will be using with the router. Once you have the Internet set up with one computer this way, then you can move on to the router.

Disconnect the computer from the modem and actually pull the power plug from the modem. Modems often will not reassign IP addresses when you change what device you plug into them, and thus need to be power cycled. Plug the ethernet cable into the WAN port on the Linksys (and make sure the other end is still connected to the modem) and plug the power cables of both the modem and the router back in.

You should now be able to connect your computer to the router with another ethernet cable (to one of the numbers ports, NOT the WAN port. This is reserved for the modem) and run the setup again.
