Hi,

Offhand, can you pls try and do a reset. This model don't have a reset button, but you can try removing the batteries for say an hour or so. The idea is to reset the microprocessor if the problem is software/firmware. Preset/memory would be erased as well as any personalized settings if you do this. But the unit will be back to factory default.

If the reset doesn't work, then your particular version/model has a slight offset resulting to the "humming sound". This is a known problem and many in the "ham" world have written corrective procedures which would require an insulated tuning/alignment screwdriver or at the very least a jewellers screwdriver and doing a bit of alignment by "ear"

If you are adventurous to give this a try, pls post back. Otherwise your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified ham radio technician.

Assuming its broken outside the unit: most aerials are very similar to fit, serving the exact same function and not worth the cost of locating the exact same one used for your model due to time, and purchase costs.
Find an old transitor radio with similar sized aerial, ie length and diameter to fit your radio. Measure it and the replacement from an old radio you or a friend does not need.
Purchase a small screwdriver to remove and refit aerial to your grundig. Small sets of screwdrivers can be bought cheaply from discount stores, ebay etc.

DOES IT HAVE AN "AUX" OR "TAPE" INPUT? Switch it off; If something is plugged in the jack - unplug it. That all will switch of the radio output.

If the radio uses memory batteries, try changing these with new alkalines. The microprocessor needs this power to drive the display.

I had such a pb.
IC 103 CX7961 stopt to oscillate after ~30s ...
so the plls ref was out
I changed it without results
In fact the plastic trimmer C138 (4-20pf) was bad???( insulation?)
Since changing (10 years ago) : no problem

It is soppoused to seek when pressing search and scan and scan buttons If you dont like the idea of that for now on only use tuning up and down dial or buttons.
