I've noticed that my SD1000 sometimes has difficulty focusing on subjects that are close-up after I change settings from normal to macro and back. The only thing that seems to cure this is to turn the camera off and then on again. At that point, the macro setting works fine again. I hope this workaround helps.

Sounds like you may not be in "Auto" mode. Press the "Func/Set" button, then press Right or Left to select the "Auto" mode.

Canon SD1000 blurred pictures and blurred LCD, Camera wont focus! please help ive had it for 2 weeks

The best chance to use your SD1000 is to set to picture, push ISO (on top of the func. set ring) and set to hi. This works pretty well. Do not bother sending any camera to Canon, they charge the "standard charge" plus for all their manufacturing problems on all Canon cameras. Definately the worst customer service on the market.
