It appears to have a computer interface,It uses an RS232C Interface, a small D9 Socket on unit, you need a specially wired cable, to talk to your unit, with GPS software, it sends out NEMA codes to the PC. You also need driver, and software, software at the least. www.jeppesen.com/documents/.../FullCompatabilityListAug09.pdf software compatibility list above.

I looked but couldn't find a manual...

If the handset and antenna have been checked and found to be functioning properly, there may be an issue with the transmitter itself. This is a nice piece of gear, but I am afraid you are going to need the help of a service department that can service JRC gear. I believe you are going to need a hard disk with info. It should have come with radio.

When installing elite 5 XHDI what do I do with the data cable, the one with 5 wires?

I'd be very hesitant about just cutting off the data cable. Because it has NMEA 0183 capability, in the future if you plan to hook it up with a DSC VHF radio, an autopilot or the like, you'll wish you hadn't!

My JHP 500 Tranceiver will receive but not transmit, any Idea's

It may have been PLL instead of PPL. If so, that stands for Phase-Locked Loop, and is the circuit that the transmitter needs to generate the desired frequency to transmit on. That being the case, there's no user remedy and the unit must be serviced by a qualified radio shop.
