I would try changing the batteries. If that doesn't do the trick then you either need to reprogram the remote or just call Dish and they will issue you a new remote.

Have you tried unplugging the receiver for 10 seconds? Also, do the other functions on this remote work properly? You can also try reprogramming the remote by pressing the system info button on the front of the receiver and pressing the "SAT" button you should hear three tones confirming it worked. Unplug the satelite box and replug it back like about an hour later.By letting the box resetting and upgrading it softwares the remote should work again now.

If you are trying to use your Samsung TV remote, it will not work with our DISH receiver. Some universal remotes can be programmed to the receiver but you may not get full functionality with the universal remote. Our remotes are designed to allow for functionality for the TV if programmed to the DISH remote (volume, on/off). I hope this helps.
