I got the mm575 lawn mower as a gift without the power cord. Where do I buy a replacement b&d-manufactured or generic power cord? thanks. Victoria

Thank you for your advice. I have done that previously, however, the generic replacement cord keeps on getting disconnected every minute or two whenever the power is turned on and I start mowing!

You should be able to buy a good quality cord at your local hardware and be on your way

You should be able to use any decent (i.e. thick) outdoor power cord. The trick with the disconnecting problem is that there is a nobby bit on the switch housing that you are supposed to loop the cord around. The cord plugs into the bottom of the switch housing and then you are supposed to push a loop of the cord up and over the tab on the outside of the handle.

How do i tighten the blade on a black and decker MM575-18

Hi Kevin,

User a pair of channel-locks to grab the square spacer below the nut. Then tighten down the nut using wrench.

Short battery charge

The B & D MM575 mower is not battery operated nor is it cordless. CMM1200 CMM1936 CMM1836 are the currently available cordless mowers. You can buy a battery from B &D, they list it here:

I would like to buy a petrol lawn mower, i have found out there are mulching lawn mowers on the market, what are your views on this type of mower

Mulching mowers are great if you dont have the time to rake the excess grass or the means ( time or ability) to dispose of te collected remains. The mower will mulch te grass right back over te top of the cut grass with minimal apperance of grass being left behind, if you kep up on the cutting schedule that is. Better for larger areas where "lines" would usually remaine with a non mulching mower.
