If our battery has corroded it may be impossible to get the end (opposite the light) cap to come off. The light is designed to be moisture resistant... Likewise even penetrating oil cannot get in...
To guarantee long reliable service it is best to put a tiny dot of grease on the threads on assembly.
Maglite Solitaire makes a wonderful little flashlight...
(all metal construction... single AAA battery)...
((Mini = 2 AAA batteries... opens the same)).
Basic colors included black, red, silver & blue
but this particular light was also quite popular for commercialization... often displaying many BIG NAME
COMPANY LOGOs.
The initial closure of the end cap can be quite loose to be effective because of it's O-ring design... however some folks put the end cap on too tight...

It might take some serious force to get it open again.
Consider using a piece of leather in a pair of pliers to avoid marring the case. Reassemble without over-tightening.
The Mini Maglite is a durable, compact flashlight. If your Mini Maglite stopped working, check or replace its two AA batteries first, and if that doesn't fix it, you'll probably need to replace the lamp. You can order replacement lamps in packs of two online, or you may be able to find them locally in a hardware store.
To replace the lamp in a Mini Maglite:
1. Unscrew the bottom of the flashlight. (Hold the flashlight with the head facing down so that the batteries don't fall out.) 2. Remove the batteries. 3. Unscrew the flashlight head from the barrel. 4. The lamp is mounted into the flashlight on two prongs; gently pull up on the lamp to remove it. 5. Install the new lamp by lining the prongs up with the two holes and slowly inserting it fully. 6. Screw the flashlight head back on. 7. Reinsert the batteries. 8. Screw the base back on.
When you've finished, turn the flashlight on (by turning the lens cover or the head counter-clockwise) to verify that the new lamp works. If the light doesn't come on, take the flashlight apart again and check to make sure the lamp is installed correctly and fully. Since the lamps come in packs of two, if you can't get the first lamp to work, try the second lamp in the pack. If that lamp doesn't work either, check your batteries and make sure the lens cover and head are both screwed on all the way.
make sure battery is good. Did you install batteries correctly? flat side (-) in first. Try adjusting the head where it screws on.turn in both directions. Last if this doesn`t work -return it for an exchange where you bought it..
hope your not in the dark..
The back, tail cap, should be unscrewed from the maglite to replace the batteries. It can be pretty hard to open as they are generally not opened very often and there's a rubber seal to keep it water-proof. You could try using a pliers or vice but be careful not to squeeze it out of shape.
There's also a possibility that if the batteries are in it a long time that they have leaked and the leaked chemicals have sealed it. If this is the case you may be able to get the maglite replaced depending on what brand of batteries were in it. Maglite have an agreement with the makers of Duracell, Ever-Ready and Ray-O-Vac to replace the Maglite if one of their batteries leak in it.
Since this is a simple construction flash light (no electronics) make sure you are installing the correct bulb for the voltage of the batteries. If you use a bulb that is for a 2 cell (3.0 volt) in a flashlight that takes 4 cells (6.0 volt) the bulb will burn out every time.
they either unscrew from the back end or they unscrew from around the thick light end , then just pop in some new batteries making sure that they are pointed in the same direction
You should also consider installing a LED bulb in your light. If you use it much at all, it will quickly pay for itself in battery life and the light is a lot whiter.
1. Unscrew the "bell" (top) of the flashlite. 2. Remove the bulb by pulling upward. 3. Replace with new bulb (be sure you have the correct bulb . . . it will have two small wires protruding from the bottom). 4. CAREFULLY insert new bulb through hole in the bottom of the reflector. 5. Screw the top of the flashlight back on.
