Refer to the maintenance section of your manual for cleaning the machine.
Always thread a sewing machine with the presser foot up.
Check the needle to be sure the flat side of the needle shaft faces the back of the machine.
Check the bobbin to be sure the thread is feeding in the correct direction and though the proper guides.
Using the handwheel, lower the threaded needle, holding onto the the end of the thread and then raise to pull up the bobbin thread.
Take both threads under the presser foot and to the back of the sewing machine.
Place the fabric under the presser foot and while holding onto both threads, lower the needle into the fabric by turning the handwheel by hand and create one stitch.
Let go of the threads and press on the power pedal.
If this does not resolve the issue, the machine may need the timing adjusted and this needs to be done in a shop by an authorized Singer tech.
If the machine is new, the warranty may cover the adjustment.
