HOW DO I BRIGHTEN (lighten) UP MY MONITOR SCREEN? It has gotten darker.

    tfteel, May not be able to "lighten" lcd screen if the "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps" have lots of "ON" hours on them. Do you see any "pinkness" at the left and right edges of panel? What is the date of manufacture on back-side label say. Unit may also have a problem with it's switch-mode-power-supply or ccfl inverter supply that provides 600 to 1000vac to light-up the ccfl tubes that provide white-light so you can see all the pretty colors on the lcd panel. Always state name and model number in body of typed text. Do some reading in my fixya profile and other LCD monitor tech's profiles to understand problems all brands of lcd monitors suffer from. 12fixlouie

Hi,
you can adjust the contrast and brightness of the screen accordingly using the following instructions. Please select the right combination of brightness and contrast according to your desire.

  • Please check out controls in the bottom of your monitor, below the scree. I have provided the image below for your reference.
  • HOW DO I BRIGHTEN UP MY MONITOR SCREEN? - 2c2dd1f.jpg
  • In this the fourth option is OSD menu. Please click on it and you will scoll down to options .
  • you can see options called "brightness and contrast". I have added picture for this too!
Once you go that page,use the menu to enter! then use the 2nd and 3rd button to adjust the brightness. Now your job is done.Please click on 1st button to exit. If you need more assistance in this, please write back to us. Please rate my solution as helpful!

Try going to your menu or input select and you should see a scale to darken or lighten input. The remote should have a button on it to let you get to main menu.

I have a magnavox 55 inch screen model nu is 6p5440w102. Picture is dark tried to lighten but wont brighten up anymore.
This is an older set------with back off you will see 3 large black cylinders with lens---these are the red, green and blue picture tubes.

Clean the lens with a lens cloth or paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on the towel.

Annual cleaning of them is suggested as dust or dirty lens will cut down the brightness---this happens gradually over time and will make the picture darker and somewhat dull looking.

I do it with set on but you should UNPLUG SET and just look to see if dust on lens.

Simple and takes only a few minutes.

Hello,

Does the system power on, just the screen that fails to lighten? if yes, the problem should be from the screen back light. The back light must have gotten burnt and needs to be replaced for your screen to brighten up again.

My View Sonic VX715 LCD sometimes will come on with the top of the screen darker and it will lighten up towards the bottom then go completely dark. I found buy tapping on the top of monitor it will come...
fixing a LCD monitor require you to have some basic electronic know how.. changing the backlight won't be easy as you need to dismantle the whole LCD right to the screen..
But if the display only lasted for few minutes and then the whole screen turn dark, this is due to bad component on the board.. most probably capacitor...

Press the top left button to brighten the screen on start up without a game installed. If you have one screen darker than the other then there are two small screws under the battery cover,they are the screws that are the deepest in, you will need a small philips screw driver to adjust them, the left one does the top screen and th right does the bootm.

The screen on my Toshiba satellite p205 went dark on me i check and u can see the window but really dark i replace the lcd screen and the problem persist help please what can the problem be my video...
To determine if the video card or the LCD is faulty, connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight. It could be a faulty inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out; usually the CCFL lamp fails before the inverter.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

1. Press and release the [2nd] key.
2. Press and hold ↑ or ↓ which are below and above the contrast symbol (yellow, half-shaded circle).
· ↑ lightens the screen.
· ↓ darkens the screen.
