Toshiba Laptop not charging

Recently I went to india and took a tranformer with me. Used the transformer to charge my TOSHIBA A100 laptop and everything was fine. India has 220V.

Came back to Canada, plugged it into the wall and the screen started to flash. The charging light went nuts !!! Unplugged it, took the battery out etc. put everything back together. Still does not charge. The charging light is going nuts along with a couple of other lights. Battery is completely out of juice and laptop will not start.

Any thoughts, advise ?

So confusing...Laptop AC Adapter nowadays has AUTOMATIC VOLTAGE, meaning it doesn't matter if it is 110v or 220v. Maybe you've got a FAULTY BATTERY. Remove the battery and plug in your AC Adapter to outlet and to your laptop and try to power-on.

Toshiba a100 will not charge

If the rechargeable battery is one to three years old or more, chances are you need to replace it, sometimes using a stiff toothrush on the laptop terminals may get the battery charging again because there is dirt buildup.

My laptop won't turn on even though it's plugged into the recharg

Try removing the battery and running the laptop just on the p/s. If it works like this the battery is dead. Otherwise the laptop has a problem.

If the battery is dead, buy a new battery or run it on p/s alone.

Laptops should be run on battery alone as much as possible, or the battery dies.

If its still under warranty then give it for repairs. Does this laptop have a DC input slot, if so use that since it will bypass the power IC and directly feed the requisite power for operation & charge the batteries too........sodeep.
PS: Laptop replacement of any IC is very intricate and should be done by the manufacturer through their authorised service center. Don't worry there are authorised Service Centers in India, but where do you recide? Then I might be able to send the nearest authorised Service Center address.

Hi,

certain laptops rely on a battery being present.
Or a battery that holds charge.
i,d suggest refering to the user manual, or go on-line to the manufacturers website.
the laptop may be in hibernation/sleep mode. or require a hard reset.
