Ranger 2995DX I own a Ranger 2995Dx for the last couple of moths the lights have been diming when I transmit. Yesterday unfortunately as I was adjusting the rf power knob the display( frequency counter) shut off, I turned the radio off then back on the frequency counter came back on ? as soon as I transmit again the display when off again. On the meter the is no output watts at all. Im wondering could it be the power supply? I understand that these radios had problems with the power supply. Is there a update power supply that I can purchase for this radio?

In most cases I have been able to replace a capacitor associated with the power supply, it fails when the voltage is pulled down during transmit. You're more than welcome to ship it in here.

Thanks,

Just fitted new power supply after repair but power supply working but it wont power up .....please help

Check the fuse. Blowing a power supply does not happen. Blowing a fuse often does. If the power supply truly went out, it is too small in amperage. More information on the power supply may help.

Where do you add freq expansion mod in 2995dx? pimas

You put it on the CPU board, its called a (E-CHIP) if yours did not come with one, may be hard to find...You have to have a good steady soldering hand to do it. Have not done any of these, but did a few 2900 DX. ... hope this was helpful...

My ranger 2950 will receive but will not transmit, also where can i get a 6 pin mike for this same radio ?

check tr 51 (Q 51) the sb754 on the back side mounting of the radio.. the center pin (collector) of this modulator ic should not be 13 volts. my bet is that it is.. this test is done in am mode.. not sideband.
depending on you carrier setiing it should be between 3 -8 volts any higher in am mode and my bet is that its bad... much more common than the finals in this radio. good luck Rick

Will not stay on 11 meter turn it off comes back on 10&12 meter will not transmit am or ssb recieve ok. rci 2995dx.

Hello janetsue, If this radio has the blue or green screen LCD face then this is a default that is built into the radio. It depends on how the radio was "converted" when it was bought new.
It will not key up on 10 or 12 because of the default. A little more info supplied would be real helpful,,,, Let me know, Mechanic
