There most likely quarter inch rivets. I have a 2000 taurus and had to replace to windows they were put in with two rivets each. The easiest way to get them out is to use a 1/8 or 3/16 drill bit and drill them out. If you don't have a rivet gun just go and buy 1 inch long 1/4 bolts with a washer on each side and they will fit perfect in the existing holes.

How to replace subaru quarter glass

Hi Mom, I'm wondering how your spinach pie tastes? Replacing the quarter light is not an easy job, but if you're handy with wrenches and screw drivers here goes. Open the offending door and remove the power window switch by gently lifting it with a thin flat screw driver. Disconnect the cables by releasing the locking tap on the underside of the unit. Remove the back cover of the door release handle by either removing the single screw or un clipping it, Using a Philips screw driver, remove the two deep screws under the arm rest. Borrow the pastry knife from your kitchen and at the lowest part of the door insert it between the panel and the door frame, and then gently pry it towards yourself until you hear the press studs pop open. Repeat the same action all the way around the bottom and up the two side of the door and when loose, lift off the panel and place it out of the way of the kids. Re attach the switch controlling the window and lower the window to where you can reach the bolts (10mm) with a socket wrench. The bolts hold the regulator to the window. Loosen them and remove and lower the regulator all the way down, until you can pull the window up at an angle allowing you to remove it from the door. carefully lift and remove it and put it somewhere safe. remove the rubber weather strips and from the top of the door frame together with the strips inside the rail the window moves on. If you follow the rail of the window to where it is fitted to the door frame you will see another 10mm bolt at the bottom. Before removing that one mark the position as exactly as possible. (The position is critical for smooth operation of the window). Remove the weather strip around the outside of the frame of the door and on top you will see the upper bolt holding the rail (which should also be marked) Remove that and then the rail. The quarter light is held into position by a rubber which surrounds it.Being very careful of any glass which may have remained in the rubber gently remove it and after cleaning it, fit the replacement into the rubber. With the glass in place fitting it into the correct position is not going to be easy. A good idea is to smear a light coating of white petroleum gel onto the parts of the rubber which fit into the door frame before fitting it. When the quarter lite has been fitted and the rail placed in position reassembly is opposite to disassembly. Keep in mind that when fitting back the window it must be aligned with the rails which should be finally tightened after the window is fitted. Now tell me, while you're busy doing that, who's gonna bake the spinach pie? Best regards John

Need to remove door panel on 1984 thunderbird and this old man cant figure it out

To remove the door panel, remove any screws that are in the vicinity of pull handles and door pockets. These screws will be under little trim covers that you need to prise off to get to their heads. Look for the screws around the edge of the panel and also the screw in the latch release handle recess.
The lock knob, if there is one there, will have to be screwed off and then carefully work your way around the door, freeing the panel's clips from their holes in the door frame. (Doot panels are brittle and clip break out easily).
Finally the panel will probably have to be lifted out if the window slot. (If the panel does not come off, work out what is retaining it and remove that screw or slide it off the clip that is still holding the panel. Disconnect any electrical plugs behind the panel. Under the panel you will find a plastic dust sheet that is stuck to the door frame, remove this carefully, you will have to replace it before replacing the panel.

Problem with the 2004 Land Rover FreeLander How to install a Freelander Window Regulator with cable loose not broken just off winder

Tools you will need:
1. Panel removal tool
2. Philips screw driver
3. 1/4 Ratchet with extension and 8 mm socket.
4. grease to lube new regulator. The first thing, is to remove the door panel:
1. Remove 2 screws securing hand rail to door.
2. Remove screw securing door handle escutcheon to door and remove the escutcheon.
3. Remove 4 screws securing pocket to door.
4. Carefully release 10 clips securing trim casing to door. (Best to use a door panel removal tool, the plastic clips break very easy)
5. Disconnect multi-plug from upper door speaker. Do the same for lower speaker
6. Remove trim panel from door.
7. Remove the plastic vapor barrier , care full not to destroy. (You may have to cut around some things such as the hand rail brackets.)
At this point you will be able to see the regulator and motor through the small holes in the door. At this stage a small flash light is very handy
to see such things as the power connector for the window motor.

1. Loosen the two bolts in the slotted holes, shown above.
2. Remove the remaining 4 bolts securing regulator assembly to door.
3. Lower glass and loosen the 2 bolts securing door glass to regulator. Then slide the channel bar forward to remove.
4. Disconnect the power from the window motor.
5. lift the window and secure in the up position ( I used Duct tape).
6. Collapse all the arms and maneuver the old regulator out the center hole in door. Assembly is basically the reverse of the removal procedures:
1. take the two screws that you partially removed out of the old regulator and install them partially install them into the new regulator.
2. Work the new regulator through the center hole.
3. Connect the power to the regulator motor.
4. Lower the window glass, take the channel that secures the glass to the regulator, insert it over the tow bolts that were loosened in step 2 above
5. Raise the window and secure.
6. Insert the 2 bolts on regulator through the keyed holes in the door and finger tighten.
7. line up the rest of the bolt holes and install the remaining two bolts in both the regulator and then tighten two bolts in step 6 above
8. install the two in the bottom channel.
9. Now is a good time to test..........
Then all that is left to install the hook up the speaker(s) and mount the door panel.
1. Position trim panel close to the door and connect door speaker(s) multi-plug(s).
2. Secure door panel to door with clips.
3. insert escutcheon to door handle and secure with screw.
4. Secure hand rail to door with two screws.noranda21_0.jpg
5. Fit pocket to door and secure with four screws."

Trying to reinstall the roof cargo racks on the rails of a 01 jeep cherokee my son took off and cant remember to put on

That's usually easier to do if you remove one side rail.
There are usually six access holes in the rail that the screws go into. (pretty sure the screws are torx type) Once the rail is off, you can easily attach the cross bars and re-attach the rail to the roof. Ends of cross bars are held on with a screw that goes in from the bottom side. When replacing roof screws it is good to put a dab of silicone sealer on each screw hole to prevent rust or leaks.

Drivers door window is off it's carrier Rail

Remove screws by mirror, and around the door armrest, use a flathead screwdriver to pop out the electric window/door lock controls and unplug the wire harness. Now take a bigger flat head screw-driver and pry around the edge of the panel where there are little plastic retaining screws. Pull slowly and make sure screw-driver is directly next to plastic screw. Now, pry all around the edges, and pull the panel straight up and pull than set it on the ground. You will now see the inside of your door. There may be plastic covering over the door that you will have to slowly pull off or cut. Now you will see your window. There should be a carrier rail on each side of the widow or straight across the bottom holding window in place. Re-align window to holder, (if there is any broken parts, you should get them replaced) You can turn car power on and still use and re-plug in window control buttons to help adjust the carrier rail.
Now reverse procedure for replacement.
