Toshiba Equium A100-02k laptop black screen

Laptop starts up ok but after 5 minutes or so the screen flickers then goes black. Under a bright light I can still see desktop image on screen but there is no backlight. If I let it cool for 10 minutes it again starts normally before going black again.
I'm hoping it's just the inverter but need confirmation before I purchase a new part, or could this be something else like the actual screen itself or VGA adaptor?

Sounds like it could be the monitor itself

Toshiba Equium A300D - 13X laptop black screen.

Hi. try accessing the Start-up BIOS features by pressing F2 or Delete key when you see the Toshiba logo. Check for the Tab that will give you the control for the brightness/contrast of the screen. If that doesn't do anything then most probably the backlight (LED or CFL) must have been busted. and needs replacement.

Toshiba laptop 2 years old, the screen is black. The laptop turns on but get no screen.

You can try connecting an external monitor and if you can get to the CMOS/BIOS you can verify that the active screen is your laptop screen. If everything is OK on the BIOS, then probably your laptop screen is broken. To enter the Bios use F2 or F10 (depending on model) when booting.

Dull picture on laptop but cursor is still bright

The screen brightness is automatically adjusted by your laptop's Power Management configuration in the Control Panel. Depending on your laptop's brand you might not only have the Windows power management, but also a proprietary power management application within the control panel or in your Start Menu programs usually listed under your computer's brand name. For example a program folder called "Toshiba" under Programs for a Toshiba laptop. Anyway, I would start there. Usually you can set up the screen brightness according to whether or your computer is plugged in or working on battery. Good luck! :)

Toshiba satellite a135 monitor goes black

You could have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp.
To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions.

Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:

  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
