Dvd recorder rdr-hxd860

Mistakingly changed the command code from dvd3 to dvd2 on the dvd recorder. The dvd recorder does not respond to remote control anymore. How do i get the box responding to the remote control?
Any help will be appreciated.

my dad mistakenly changed the command mode from DVD 3 to 1 and the remote controller is not responding to the box. I have tried pressing the stop button and then pressing the power button together and it turns off, but when i switch it back on, the remote controller still does not respond.

what shall i do? any more suggestions?

If you have changed the command mode on your recorder and now find the remote no longer works. Make sure you have a new set of batteries in the remote. 1. Hold down the enter button on the remote. 2. While holding down enter button, enter the command mode code number using the number buttons. DVD1 press number button 1 DVD2 press number button 2 DVD3 press number button 3 Hold down both the number buttons and ENTER at the same time for more than three seconds. The default setting is DVD3 so try DVD1 or DVD2 to regain control.

Hi I have a sony dvd recorder gx360 that will not work with my remote. When try, it displays dvd 2 on front of the panel. I think its locked, how do I unlock it?

You have got the wrong remote code!
I have copied this from the manual....

Set the command mode for the remote so it matches the command mode for the recorder you set above. Follow the steps below to set the command mode on the remote. A Hold down ENTER. B While holding down ENTER, enter the command mode code number using the number buttons. Command Mode DVD1 - number button 1 DVD2 - number button 2 DVD3 - number button 3 C Hold down both the number buttons and ENTER at the same time for more than three seconds.

The correct "default" for the remote is DVD3!
The full manual is available free on this website:

I can't return to command mode dvd3 (default) from dvd1. Now my remote is useless and I can't find a way to bring up the main menu so I can get back into command mode dvd3.

Hi,
Slide remote lower cover and look for DVD Command mode set switch, set it to DVD-3 position, your RDR-VX530 will accept remote commands.
Thanks.

Remote RMT-D240A not working with RDR-VX525 DVD Player that it came with. Only get DVD Screen saying DVD 3, will not even turn ON/OFF.

You may have to reset the remote to the current command code. Here is the link for how to do that. http://community.sony.com/t5/Remote-Controls/RDR-VX525-Changed-to-DVD3-on-command-control-and-remote-won-t/td-p/158777

Set up sony RDR-VX535 recorder to DVD1. now remote does not work.

See the manual on page 22.
The solution is to reset your remote code to DVD1 (default is DVD3).

Press the ENTER button and NUMBER ONE button simultaneously for at least three seconds. Viola, control returns.

Indeed, I did the same thing.... I did find the answer in the manual!
Here's a copy of it (pg 23):

Set the command mode for the remote so it matches
the command mode for the recorder you set above.
1 Hold down ENTER
2 While holding down ENTER, enter the
command mode code number using the
number buttons.
Command Mode Code number
DVD1 number button 1
DVD2 number button 2
DVD3 number button 3
3 Hold down both the number buttons and
ENTER at the same time for more than 3
seconds.
4 Let up, press RETURN, all done!

Can not get my sony dvd to get off of dvd1 and it is now locked u

Go to your DVR and manually turn the DVR off. Press the STOP button for
two or three seconds. The DVR COMMAND MODE setting will display in the
DVR window. (DVD1, DVD2 or DVD3)

Set the remote to the COMMAND MODE setting that was diaplayed by depressing
both the remote ENTER key and the desired number key (1, 2 or 3) and holding
them both at the same time for 3 seconds.

You can now use the remote to set the DVR to the desired COMMAND MODE.
To do this depress SYSTEM MENU on the remote and go to SETTINGS and then
COMMAND MODE. Select either DVD1, DVD2 or DVD3. Once you delect a setting
that is different from what was set, your remote will stop working again.

Reset your remote to the desired COMMAND MODE by depressing the remote ENTER
key and the desired number key (1, 2 or 3) and holding them both at the same
time for 3 seconds. The remote should now control the DVR.
