The "DNS error 80710102" is an error displayed on the Sony Playstation when attempting to connect to the Internet. It's a known problem for Playstation users, but the answer is to disable universal plug-n-play on the router.

Step1
Open a browser window and enter the router's IP address into the navigation bar. For most routers, the default IP address is 192.168.1.1.
Step 2
Enter the username and password used to access the router. Press "OK" and the console application will be shown in the browser window.
Step 3
Click the "Password" tab. The UPnP settings are located in the same window as the router's password settings.
Step 4
Select "Disable" from the box labeled "UPnP" and click the "Save" button. Close the router's console window. Start the Playstation machine and connect to the Internet.

If you receive an eight digit 800 series error code, there may be a few solutions.

Update the System Software.

Visit Playstation 3 System Software Update to download and install the most recent version.

To check what version of the System Software is currently installed on your PLAYSTATION 3:

1. From the XMB home menu, go to (Settings) > (System Settings) > [System Information].

2. The system will display the System Software version number.

Power-Cycle all Network Equipment

Power-cycle means to turn the networking devices OFF (i.e., unplug it from the power source), and then to turn it back ON after a set period of time. This will allow the network devices to refresh its settings.

Please power-cycle ALL of your network equipment, including any wireless access points, routers, Voice Over IP (VOIP) modems, and broadband modems for two (2) full minutes. After 2 minutes, you can turn on (or plug in) your equipment.

Check Your Enviroment

  • Make sure to allow adequate ventilation to flow from the PLAYSTATION 3's vents (i.e., avoid obstructing the vents with long/shaggy carpet, inadequate airflow from cramped entertainment cabinet setups, etc.).

  • Make sure to keep the PLAYSTATION 3 away from excessive dust, smoke, steam, extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.

  • See the PLAYSTATION 3 system Safety and Support manual for full details on Safety Precautions and Use and Handling (manual included with the PLAYSTATION 3 system and available for download from PLAYSTATION 3 Manuals)

Restore Default Settings

During certain troubleshooting situations, it may be necessary to restore all of the PLAYSTATION 3 system settings back to their original "default" configuration.

  1. From the XMB home menu, go to (Settings) > (System Settings) > [Restore Default Settings].

  2. Once you select [Restore Default Settings], you will see a list of settings that will be restored. Scroll through them and press the (X) button to restore the settings.

  3. After the operation is complete, you will see the initial setup screen that appeared the first time you turned on the PLAYSTATION 3.
You will need to go through the initial setup screen before you can use the PLAYSTATION 3.
IMPORTANT
The Restore Default Settings feature will erase any previously saved settings and restore all of the following settings to the default:
  • BD/DVD Settings
  • Music Settings
  • Chat Settings
  • System Settings
  • Date and Time Settings
  • Accessory Settings
  • Display Settings
  • Sound Settings
  • Security Settings
  • Network Settings
  • Internet Browser Settings
Also, do not confuse "Restore Default Settings" with the "Restore PS3 System" option (the next option down on the menu). The "Restore PS3 System" will not only restore the default settings, but it will also delete all hard disk content (You will lose all saved content from your PS3 system's hard drive if you use "Restore PS3 System.

If all these fixes fail to work you can contact sony at:

or

Hope this helps.

How do i solve the DNS error 80710102

It seems like the DNS error is generally caused by problems on your ISP's end of the network, but that doesn't mean you can't have a crack at fixing it yourself.

Under your network connection settings try changing the DNS servers to the following numbers (they're free by the way)

Primary DNS 208.67.222.222
Secondary DNS 208.67.220.220

Also, try disabling media server connection as well. These simple steps should, in 90% of cases, fix the problem.

I've written a more in-depth guide to the causes of, and solutions to the DNS error- check it out here http://searchwarp.com/swa641197-Ps3-Dns-Error-80710102-Troubleshooting.htm
