Yeah its a winding mag, not spring, what you need to do is pour in your bb's and there should be a wheel on the bottom of the mag, wind it until it makes double clicks thats when youll know its done, then fire eventually it wont fire then just wind it again; I hope you and your son are practicing safely the last thing you want is you or your sons eye penetrated by a bb and from the sounds of it your son maybe young cause if he is i suggest a trigger lock, dont want him running around the neighborhood with it do you?
