The air pressure switch is bad, motor is still good. Kohler is not helpful with replacing switch,told me for $400.00 for new motor I could fix my problem. Can I get a new switch or motor somewhere, for a reasonable price? Kohler whirlpool tub (1157)

The squealing sound generally comes from a circulator pump, if it has a drive coupling between motor and impeller housing there is an oil cup/or oil hole, add oil until it is full! If it is a cartridge style circulator you may have to replace it.

The Expansion tank is factory set to 12 psi and the only way to tell if it remains with 12 psi is to drop the system pressure to zero and check the tank with a pressure gauge. If water comes out the air valvestem when you apply the pressure gauge, the tank is bad, replace it! If there is less then 12 psi on the tank add air to 12 psi and open water valves back up to normal operating pressure. Usually the feed valve will automatically stop at the preset setting.If the boiler is leaking water out any relieve valve drains, the feed valve, relief valve and or expansion tank may need to be replaced.

If the motor is getting warm I would suggest replacing the Cartridge assuming all the air is out.

Probably cheaper to fix existing water heater.
The problem might be the power vent, or the power vent might be short cycling because the gas control valve is bad, or vacuum switch has gone bad.

I prefer the AO Smith, American, State, Reliance, Craftmaster. Kenmore, Whirlpool brand since air intake screen is located on bottom of unit and can be inspected and cleaned without removing burner.

Some how you have disconnected the sensor that tells the main burner that the fan is on. Its trying to light but cant. On some models there is a air pressure switch that reads the pressure inside the vent pipe itself. It will have a small hose on it and if that has cracked or was not replaced it wont light. This is how its supposed to work--- vent fan comes on,sensor confirms fan is on,hot surface ignighter starts to glow red,and main burner is opened,another sensor confirms that main burner is lit,then hot surface ignighter turns off. Hope this helps.

The easiest way I know of is to remove cap from air valve on top of tank and check pressure with tire gauge.If you get water out of valve then air bladder is bad and tank will need to be replaced. If you don't get water but no pressure then reinflate to 3-5 PSI. Hope this helps. Thanks

The problem is probably in the pressure switch. The switch is usually a round thing with a hose or two going to it.
You must figure out though if the vent is blocked or if the switch is bad. Check the vent outside to make sure that air is coming out. If no air or little air is coming out of the vent then your vent may be blocked and the pressure switch is keeping the burner from coming on because of that. If air flow is okay then the switch is probably bad. Replace the pressure switch.

Sounds like a well fed system with a pressure tank that has lost its air charge. Check for a water tank with a tire pressure type stem fitting, should also have a pressure gauge. Most newer tanks have a rubber diaphram inside to keep the air and water from mixing, but a lot of older ones don't and the newer ones will develope a leak that will produce the simpoms you describe. Try adding a few pounds of air pressure to the top of the tank and check for leaks. Warning: Compressed air can escape explosivly if the tank is badly rusted out but if your water pressure goes to 50# without the tank leaking, it should be safe to add up to 25# of air. The air charges the water system and allows the pump to shut off until enough water is used to lower the pressure back to set points on the control switch. It's not a good idea to adjust the set points on the switch unless all parts in the system have been checked for safety to the new pressures.

go online to kohler and they will send you out a new switch,, it isn't that hard to install, this will solve your problem and I think if you tell them it was put in not to long ago they will send it for free

I think the pump is going out on reset or hi limit
