SOURCE: I have a creative audigy Creative Labs Sound

Uninstall all sound drivers for the card. Delete all folder and use search to locate everything related to the sound card. Remove card , turn comp on w/o card. Turn off reinsert card.
Should fix it.
Vista has many, many issues like this.
If you have more types of sound listed in "SOUNDS" delete all but Audigy.
Re-install drivers AFTER you get ALL NEW VISTA UPDATES>

SOURCE: connect Creative 5.1 A500 speaker system to Phillips DVD 3256

moz-screenshot.jpg 2d65f17.jpg
Just buy two connectors(shown above). Its having two holes upside.
1. Connect the connector to one hole of the other.
2. Connect the audio cable to the dvd.
3. Then connect the connectors to the other side of the audio cable.
4. Lastly, connect the three stereo output cables of the Creative speakers to the three holes of the connector simultaneously.
I have tried this at home with my Creative Inspire M5300 speakers and philips dvd. All the five speakers are working.

SOURCE: HOW TO CONNECT CREATIVE INSPIRE 4.1 OR 5.1 SPEAKERS WITH A HP COMPAQ 6720s LAPTOP

Reply to venkyChelsea : I also have an 6720s and Genius SW-5.1. I have connected it to my laptop with 2 jacks (3out - to 1 input). I have sound, but it's not an surround sound ;) so, there is a problem here, simply, there is no 5.1 sound card on this laptop ;)

How do i turn my lap top microphone on or do i need to plug one in regards mike

Hi Mike,

The spec say it has a built-in microphone. If you are using Windows, open the sound controller and check that the slider on the microphone is turned at least half-way up. When you open the sound controller (speaker in the systray next to clock), the microphone is normally muted. To test, unmute and tap the microphone or speak into it. Make sure you have the volume turned up on the speakers too.

I purchased hp pavilion dv6-1337tx lapi over 1 year ago. now from 6 to 17 days i noticed that battery is not charging properly..... when lapi is on battery it just go shut down within 10-15 minutes. and...

REplace the battery. It sounds as if it is exhausted.
Do you leave it chargeing all of the time you use the laptop? If you do, that is why it is exhausted. Batteries like to be used and drained from time to time.
Unfortunately, they don't recover.

Should have an ALC 888 on board sound driver. There are a bunch of 1/8 inch female jacks on the back of the computer. They should be color coordinated. Can't remember exactly but Green, Black and either pink or orange are used.

I just bought a GE Portable headset with detachable MIC

I had the same problem, but fixed it. All you have to do is:
(I have a Dell Laptop)
1. Go to the control panel
2. Go to the sounds, speech and audio devices
3. You are supposed to see the icon that belongs to your sound card (Mine is SigmaTel Audio), click on it
4. Activate the port where the microphone is connected, close
5. Configure your microphone as you normally would
6. It should work
