Hi my phone has had no service for the past 5 days when it searches for a network it says that "no network operator found" but it can't be the sim card because it works fine in my old nokia 6300 Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be? It has been working fine up until now.

You can powercycle your phone. Turn off phone,remove the sim card,memory card, and battery. Wait for at least 5 minutes then after 5minutes,you can put back the sim card,memory card at battery. Try to check if your roaming card will again work. If this doest work you need to contact smart telecommunications and ask them to deactivate then reactivate the roaming of your sim. Because if your sim wont work,there will be no access for you to retrieve the load of your sim.

Your phone is locked to a specific Network so that you can not use any other SIM apart from that network.
You need to unlock your phone, so that it can accept SIM from all network.
Phone repairing shops will unlock it for you for $5-$10 Aprox.
You can also search internet for unlock codes.

It seems that your new operator SIM card doesn't nave coverage at your area, that's why it's showing roaming because the SIM is using (registered) a host network, maybe if you make a manual search of the new SIM operator network, you could register it at its own network, if it's not found, you should report this issue to its customer service.

PUK code in PIN UNLOCKING CODE, which is required when you give PIN number wrongly for 3 times,
This code is OPERATOR specific and not phone specific and you have to call you operator and get PUK if PIN is blocked...

if you provide PUK code wrongly for 7 time, you sim may become useless, then you have to buy new SIM

NOTE: You should ask your service provider,get the PUK, Else it can be found in the booklet given when you purchased the SIM card

Check http://chinamanuals.com - they have the downloadable user manual with internet network settings for all US + Canadian providers. Search on their site for "n99i".

If searcing manually say no operator found,it means any problem with receifer in your phone,for 2-4 scnd (than operator not found)check antenna and its connector.for 5-7 scnd check switch antenna. for 8-10 check RF IC. for 10 scnd up Check UEM(power IC) and CPU.But for safely do a software repair with a good PM.

the antenna in the phone needs to be replaced so take it and have it replaced from a mobile technician or mobile service center.
