Navman N40i Not charging in car

My Navman N40i will not charge up in the car; My local garage has confirmed that power supply to navigation unit is OK and have suggested the problem lies either with the unit itself or with the cradle. I'm assuming the unit is OK as I can charge this up Ok outside of the car, so the cradle seems most likely.

The unit is about 15mths old so outside of warranty.

Any ideas as to how to solve this problem? or even who to send it to?

I have tried to take a picture with navpix only tom be told insufficient space to store new picture,

I have never taken any pictures and I have a 1GB sd card installed.

Can you advise.

Does the car charger cord plug into the cradle? or just straight into the unit (despite resting on the cradle) ? Do you know if anything else charges via the car charger?

At the bottom of the N40i is a small switch with 1/0, switch it to 0 (off) position, before switching back to 1 (on) keep your finger pressed on the silver "on" button at the top of the unit and this will reset your Navman N40i

My navman is giving me wrong direction

Make sure battery is fully charged before using A low battery power will cause it to say stupid things like turn left when it should be turn right etc

When switched on will only display NAVMAN logo and the "N401". The N40i text has a highlighted N and dimmed 40i. The orange charge light is on, but does not appear to charge the unit. None of the buttons...

hook it up to your pc and run a scan . or see if you can defrag the unit.

I have a navman N40i, when I plug in the car charger the charge light comes on, but when I plug the other end into the navman the charge light goes away & will not charge for me!

Have you tried another charger? its likely charger fault or gps internal short circuit. does gps unit switch on at all?

My Navman N40i won't switch on

turn it off at the bootom of the unit then turn it back on via the same switch. then pug in the charger and it should turn back on. it works for me when it happens to mine.

Navman N40i compatability with Vista

Solution to get GPS Navman N40I working with Windows Vista.

I solver the problem (most of it) by uninstalling the old activsynk witch was delivered with the manufactory CD. Then I downloaded from “http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx” Windows Mobile Device Center. After installing this software I connected my Navman N40I to my PC and waited to for the Mobile Device Center application to load. When it tried to gain partnership with my GPS I removed it. Voila, and the SmartST Desktop 2006 SE application was able to communicate with my GPS.

Cannot switch navman on

I have a S30 Navman I was using it , when I got to my destination I turned it off when I went to turn it on to go back it will not turn on no picture or anything
