I have a danby mini fridge and freezer and noticed the same problem. The temperature dial has NO NUMBERS ON IT! it just has a strip that goes from light to dark blue. That's it. I looked in the manual and it doesn't say anywhere which way is colder...it makes sense that the darker the blue the colder the temperature but why keep us guessing?
Turning the dial to the right (clockwise) will lower the temperature. Turning it to the left (counterclockwise) will raise it. Higher numbers on the thermostat knob indicate colder temperatures. If the thermostat is turned to the extreme left until it 'clicks' ('off' position) then the power to the compressor will be switched off.
In control position 1 the freezer temp will be around -10 C (+14 F). In position 7 the freezer will run continuously, giving a food temp of around -23 C (-10 F), depending on room temp.
Recommended control setting is between 4 and 5 on the control knob.
You'll find a user's manual with all the above at
this page on the Danby site
Dark blue is colder. Light gradient blue is warmer.
My Danby mini fridge DOES NOT HAVE ANY NUMBERS! Just a white-to-blue gradient colored strip. Which way is colder?! toward the blue, or toward the white?

that answer didnt help me. Should the dial point at the darker blue or the whiter area closer to "turning it off" position.?
