Mitsubishi WS-55313 55" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television Logo
Anonymous Posted on Mar 31, 2010

I have a Mitsubishi WS-55313 55 in. Rear Projection HDTV. My problem is, the picture suddenly goes to a black screen, while the audio remains. When I turn the TV off, and then back on, I may or may not get a picture again, and if I do, it goes black after a short time again. Do you have a soluton? is it possibly the lamp? If so which lamp do I need? and can I replace ot my self? Thanks in advance,

Your dose not use lamp, it is a crt driven TV . One of com problems for that model was loose connection on one of the yokes. When that normaly happens , there is a sudden flash and screen gose dark and sometimes it can flash back if not you get red light blinks. If you you know where the yokes are at check little small board . A small mirror will come in handy, access from front of TV. adios ... john

Mitsubishi Rear Projection TV Model WS-55311

Rear projection TVs are dinosaurs. Sell it if you can get anybody to buy it and get an HDtv they're pretty cheap now not to mention thinner, lighter and better for your eyes. Imagine the space you'll save if you mount it on the wall and the cost of electricity. Not trying to be a jerk but it's time to move into the 21st century. The picture is waaaaay better.

YELLOW TINT ON SCREEN MITSUBISHI TV MODEL WS 55313

The WS is a picture tube type rear projection first produced as a 2003 model year set.

A few questions and then a offer if needed.

Did this happen suddenly or after a power loss?

By reboot do you mean the recessed reset button on the front of the set?

I will presume if you turn color off completely the screen is some other color than black and white?

the offer: have you tried the Option menu this set has hidden, I can explain if needed.

TV screen goes blank but power stays on

Sounds like the CRTs are going into protective blanking due to the vertical output ic needing to be resolderd. Try resoldering the vertical IC that may possibly fix the issue.

Go into the menu and see if your closed captions are on and set to "TEXT". Setting the closed captions to "OFF" should solve your problem.
