We have a Sharp 32 inch HD tv--about 3 years old--the sound goes off after about 20 min--we have cked the sleep control and it shows off--sometimes if we unplug the set the sound will return but will go off again after 20 min or so--

We have a Toshiba that's a few years old. The volume decreases to 0 all the time now. I can sometimes get the volume to stay up, but it never fails to go back to 0. No idea why this is, the TV is otherwise working great.

1) First check the mute.
2) Make sure there aren’t headphones plugged in, that will disable the speakers.
3) Check the audio setup
4) Check your Volume lock

Changing Volume Lock
The remote comes preset to allow independent volume control of each selected device (Global Volume Unlock).
However, you may change the Volume Lock setting to Global Volume Lock so that one device’s volume will
control volume in all other modes. After that, you can perform Individual Volume Unlock on a selected device to
set its volume control for independent operation or Global Volume Unlock to remove all volume locking.
Locking Volume Control to One Mode (Global Volume Lock)
1. Press and hold SET until the red LED blinks twice; then release.
2. Enter 9-9-3 and then press the mode key for the device you want to control volume (for example, TV).
The LED blinks twice. Now when you press VOL+, VOL-, or Mute, the selected device (for example,
TV) will control the volume regardless of the current mode.
Unlocking All Volume Control (Restoring Global Unlock)
1. Press and hold SET until the red LED blinks twice; then release.
2. Enter 9-9-3 and then press VOL+. The LED blinks four times. Volume is now
independently controlled for all programmed devices.
Unlocking a Single Device’s Volume Control
1. Press a device key (TV, VCR/DVD, CBL/ SAT, or AUX).
2. Press and hold SET until the red LED blinks twice; then release.
3. Enter 9-9-3 and then press VOL-. The LED blinks four times. Volume is now
independently controlled for the selected

I have a Coby TFTV4028 and just bought a sound bar which only works when on the TV input but is not recognized on any other inputs. Is there a way to fix it?

The only audio output I see is the headphone jack from which to run the sound bar input. Is the sound bar surround/expanded sound features? Check the audio setup menu on Tv, the sound bar input selection, and try a cord from the headphone jack to the sound bar, if you haven't already. There should always be 2 channel stereo at the head jack unless it's turned off in tv menus. I see the owner's manual is very poor.

Element tv code direct tv

Not following... This is what I think you may be saying: You can't get the TV to use the RCA input?

The reason for my confusion is "rca surround sound". RCA will only carry left and right channel (stereo). It can't push surround sound unless it's setup as a direct input [typically an 8 channel input, where you would have 8 RCA cables (or 4 pair) connected].
The headphone jack, if using a 4-pin headphone jack (it has 4 sections of metal, vs a 3-pin, which only has 3 sections of metal), may be able to send something closer to surround sound, but it wouldn't be a true surround sound. You would need to use fiber optic, HDMI, DVI, or digital coax cable.

The sound settings in the OS on the computer need to be set to push the surround sound, or it will only push stereo. You'll probably need to spend some time there testing all the setting options.

My polaroid fxm-1911c picture is distorted, sound distorted with loud buzzing when I try to utilize the tv signal input jack, also the dvd player doesn't work

Looks like there are some partial defects in the TV and might need attention of a qualified service technician. Anyhow, make sure that the input cable, RC jacks and sockets all do not have any loose contacts. Go through settings and ensure that every set up is as it should be.

LG tv sound quit - will it work if I add external speaker system

Maybe!! It depends on where the audio sys failed. If it failed at the output drive, then you can take the audio off at the audio output jack and input it to your stereo system where there is an audio input. You'll need a cable with RCA jacks on it for this.
If your system is muted for some reason, this may not work.

Cannot get speakers to work

If your old speakers worked fine, just make sure you have the new ones powered on, and connected to the proper input for your computer. If there are colours on the input jacks, make sure you're connected to the green one.
Also be sure that your computers sound isn't set to 'mute'

I jus bought a brand new mic because i thuoght my other one was broke to use for ventrilo. but now when i plug in my mic and head set it keeps saying its plugged in and unplugged. and before that when i...

Do you have Window's Vista...I'm not sure if it works the same way, but I had the same scenario and I simply went to audio manager in my toolbar (the speaker looking thing making sound waves) and made all of the input jacks apart from each other. Go to Device Advanced Settings and choose Separated input jacks.
Sound Manager > Advanced Device Settings > Separate all Input jacks as Independent Devices

No video signal

I have had the input switching IC, and or parts failures in the input amplifiers go defective in these sets.

This can happen from a static electricity discharge while connecting something, or if one of the devices being connected has an electrical leakage and causes some current to come up in to the input of the TV set.

I have also had the input jack assembly go defective and require servicing. This is from one of the jacks breaking and causing an internal short, or if the circuit board became cracked or broken from the TV falling or being roughly handled.

Video input

There may be a child lock feature on your set but you would not get sound or picture. If you can not get a picture from the video input jacks and the set works fine other wise then this - sounds like a problem with the Video switching circuits inside your television. I would refer this type of repair to a qualified technician.
