Sounds like a valve is not shutting off if you have two feeds it should be easy to find which one either the water will be hot or cold quite easy to change have to take lid off look on search engine for valves for your make and model should be very reasonable price.

If not, then remove the hose from the faucet and inspect the screens for dirt accumulation or damage and clean or replace as necessary. If your washer still doestake water then you should next look at the water inlet valve located on the back of the machine.

Washer will not spin out water but turns during wash cycle

Try cleaning out the trap. It is located under the door and can be accessed be removing three screws at the base in the very front of the washer. The trap is white and screws to open. Watch out though, because if the washer is full of water it will come spilling out! With the trap removed, you should also use your finger to feel the opening of the pump to the side. I found a few bobby pins in my pump, and once they were removed it worked again!.

Wash machine is filling with water when the washer is off.

You probably need to replace the water inlet solenoid valves which may be stuck open. Turn off one hose at a time to find out if both or just one is causing the problem.

Tank fills when not in use

So sorry to hear of your trouble. It sounds like your water-inlet valve is defective:

A defect in the water-inlet valve may mean that it's no longer able to shut off completely when the electricity has been turned off to it. If this occurs, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub. In time, the water may accumulate substantially. If this happens, you need to replace the valve.

Whirlpool Duet Washer fills with water when not being used

Water accumulating in the tub is usually caused by two things:

Leak by - which is caused by a water inlet valve malfunction. The valve has an electronically controlled diaphragm that closes to shut the water off when not in use. Over time the valve can accumulate sediment and debris causing the valve not to seat all the way. This is especially true if you live in an area that has hard water, or if you use well water. This will cause water to leak by when the valve is not in use and accumulate over time in the wash tub. You can attempt to clean the valve with distilled vinegar to remove any sediments and flush it with clean water. You will need to remove the valve in order to do this. Sometimes a good cleaning is all it takes to correct the problem. If not, I would recommend replacing it.

Siphoning - siphoning occurs when the drain line is installed incorrectly. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587481-prevent_washer_siphoning

Although the problem usually describes a condition where a washer constantly fills and drains, or cannot maintain the proper water level, it can also cause back flow from the drain. Double check your drain line installation to ensure there is a proper air gap to allow for proper draining. If not, a vacuum is created and drain water can back flow into the washer.

A simple test would be to shut the water supply off when not in use. If the washer STILL accumulates water, you know you have a drain problem. If it does NOT, then you know you have an inlet valve issue.

If you need to replace the water inlet valve, replacements can be ordered on line at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and look under the "Dispenser Parts" heading for item number 1 (part #8181694).

It is a very simple process to replace. Just follow these steps:

1. Shut off water supply and unplug washer.
2. Disconnect fill hoses from the back of the washer.
3. Remove washer top panel by removing the three screws that hold it in place in the rear. With the screws removed, the panel slides back, then off.
4. The water inlet valve is located in the left rear of the washer (as viewed from the front with panel removed).
5. Disconnect the dispenser hose from the valve and the mounting screw(s) and the valve is removed.
6. Install new valve using the steps above in reverse order.

It really is a very simple repair. I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you still require assistance.

Washer tub slowly fills with water

Is your problem a SLOW FILL problem, or a problem with WATER DRIPPING FROM THE RUBBER DOOR SEAL - or BOTH? If you have a slow fill problem, this is generally caused by a bad fill valve, which can be attributed to hard water deposits or well water mineral deposits. Sometimes the fill valve can be removed, cleaned and reinstalled, but most of the time a new fill valve is required. If you are experiencing water leaking from the rubber door seal (bellow), it may be time to replace it. Sometimes the seal can develop a wrinkle or crease where it meets the glass, which can cause leaks. Water dripping from the door when you open after washing a load is normal. Water dripping during a load is NOT. The bellow may also have started to rip or tear inside the door which may not be noticeable until you pull the folds of the bellow back and look underneath it. I hope this helps.
