Bucherer Day/Date Setting Problem

Hi. I recently acquired a vintage (late 70s to mid 80's I believe) Bucherer automatic watch with day/date functions at the 3 o-clock position. I don't know what type of movement the watch have and I'm having trouble setting the day function (I can set the date without problem). Does anyone know how to set the day of the week on this watch or have suggestions about what to try? I've tried turning the crown in the opposite direction from setting the date, and that doesn't work. Also, simply moving the date forward consecutive days does not work either. Thanks!

You have to change day by the means of moving hands clockwise. Move as long as the desired day appears in window, then adjust the date and set time. Rate me, plz.

Testimonial: "Thanks so much. I thought I had tried what you suggested already, but apparently I hadn't. The watch is now set correctly. Thanks again!"

Date changes at mid day not at mid night.

Your watch is 12 hours out of step. The date changes ever second rotation of the hour hand.

If you advance the time 12 hours, the date will change at midnight.

You may have to re-set the date.

I have a Tissot Automatic PR 516 from the early 70s. Time is kept well. Date moves forward correctly but it is the wrong date. I am unable to turn back the date. I am able to turn back the day. Any...

The crown wheel (winder) should have 3 positions, (1) the normal winding position (3) fully out; at this position the watch stops and the time can be adjusted.

(2) This position is between the 1 & 2 and is used to adjust the day and date. If you wish to change the date by winding the crown backwards or forwards.

Since watches can very a little, if turning the crown when in position 2 the date does not change, pull the crown to position 3 and turn the hands until you pass the midnight position, when the date will change and then re-set the time. If you wish to advance the time more than one day, when it changes, wind the crown backwards past the midnight position and then wind it forwards again. Repeat until the correct date is showing and then re-set the time. The exact distance you need to turn the crown to change the date will have to be found by experimenting!

I have a Timex automatic with day and date. How do I set the day and date?

I often sell vintage Timex watches which have a day and date feature. Setting the day and date feature can be a little tricky - if not frusterating if you aren't familiar with how to do it since most of the original manuals that came with these are long gone!
I'll try to explain the process - please feel free to contact me if this doesn't make sense.
1. Pull out the crown on the right hand side of the watch.
2. Advance the crown so the time advances clockwise until the day is correct.
3. Rotate the crown so the time is going counter-clockwise (the opposite direction) until the date "clicks". (the day will click first, then the date).
4. Rotate the crown so the time is going clockwise again and the date will advance.
5. Continue this back and forth action of rotation until the date is correct.
6. Push in the crown and you're done!
I'm considering making a video of this process. Please let me know if this is something you would be interested in.

Westclox model LTX271 instructions for setting day

mcdevito75 here, The stem on your westclox has 2 positions, First pull the stem out to set the time of day, keep cycleing the watch until you come to 1 day before the day you want. NOW! push the stem back in. NOW! slip a finger nail just under the crown and gently, gently kift the crown to it"s first position, it may take a little practice so be patient, once in it's first position you can change the DATE easily, change the DATE to 1 DATE before the DA you want, push the syem back in and pull the stem back out and set the day/date and time of day. Your watch is set and will change on time a little past mid nite.

I just purchased a vintage Seiko automatic DX and I can't figure out how to change the date and day that appears on the watch.

mcdevfito75 here"s how to change the day and date on your vintage Seiko watch, Pull the stem out to the set position and simply turn the stem (winder) every second time around to the 1--2 3 O"oClock position the day will chage, once you get the day push in the stem in all the way, NOW with your fingernail just under the stem (winder) gently lift the stem up to it"s first notch or position, with the stem at this first notch or position, you can turn the stem and the hands won"t move but the date(number) will change, simply go to the correct number / date and your done, push the stem back in a your ready to go.

How do you set the day/date on a watch????????

Try this solution I posted earlier for a similar problem.
Put stem into "set hands" position and adjust hands to the 12:00 position. Day and date should advance at or close to that time.
If you pass 12:00 and there's no change continue rotating another 12 hours (to twelve o'clock again) and they should advance. Once you've found that there's midnight. So say it's now 4:00pm you would need to rotate the hands around the dial again so they pass 12:00 once more (12:00 midday) then four hours more to 4:00.
To set the day/date you can set the crown (winder) to the first position (second posn is "set hands) and rotate winder
eithr clockwise or anticlockwise. Once you discover which direction advances the date and day ring just set it to the correct day/language and date you want then press the crown home.
Hope this solves your problem.

Try this: pull out the winding crown to the first click and change the date. Memorize which way the crown turns to do that. Now turn the crown in opposite direction and the day should adjust.

If this doesb't work - submit the make, model and all the writings on watch caseback.

Yes that is ok its right by pulling the crown winder in the mid level or half level, that is for calendar date.To check if function is ok or broken, just pull full the crown and set the time, see if the calendar date is changing or moving. Then if moving then its ok,the next step you do set is the calendar date,by pulling the crown half pull, then turn the crown counterclockwise for date and for the day turn clockwise.Feel free to post whatever the result of the setting...

Hope it may helps you;
