Hi - not sure about the last part as you say - don't hear the music ...radio - I hear the music?

Ok - Guessing your not hearing music from your radio station. Most likely you need an antenna booster. High end stereo cominations are known for weak radio signals. Please consider getting that.

To test this - take the radio outside and look for a signal - or try it close to an open window.

please let me know if this helps -

    Ok - i mis-read your question. Long day --
Now that I see it - i have the exact same problem with one of these. The chip in the computer is tiny - - and it takes forever to wind up and play so you can here it. I have mine in a closet -but - just for kicks and giggles. Put in a CD - push play and wait. In 3 minutes - push it again. Do not mess with anything else. Just continue to wait and push play - about the 4th time it will play. It is junk - got one you can have.

First off how long have you owned the unit? Did you buy it new? Did it ever work playing cd's? it sounds like either a setting problem or a hardware problem with the unit. Once I have more information I can assist you further in trying to isolate the problem.
Thank you,
Lee

Hi, sounds like you have it hooked to an amp and have the blue power antenna wire instead of the blue and white amp remote turn on connected the the amp remote turn on terminal.

Take care

Check the dual zone settings.is the sound muted in its settings for cd unit. also check the sound dual zone switch. check if the sound is getting but bit low or turned on low settings.remove and reconnect all the wirings and check. if still the same problem then its due to short in the board for audio when the system is set on cd mode.the board needs to be checked by meter. to locate the faulty short in the board. This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

It seems to be a worse problem as you do have sound when using radio but nothing when you are using a cd. This is normally associated to a faulty IC.You need a professional to check and fix it unless you are familiar with these kinds of task.Hope this helps.

Chances are the function selector switch is defective, you should be able to repair this for about $150.00 Are u doing the work, then 1st u must locate a parts supplier, if the player is more than 5 years old you may not be able to get parts, so contact Kenwood web site for more info on the parts availability.
You can try the web sites below for parts help

Hi

Try restarting the player and then be sure that the volume control is not stuck, try increasing and decreasing the volume in radio mode.

If the problem persists then it is a wiring problem,if the player is connected to a booster(amplifier) pls be sure that the right wires are connected to the right AV ports(red to red, yellow to yellow and blue to blue). if this is done, you will be able to hear what you are playing

Hi,

When you are playing a CD again, try and increase the volume.

If no volume? that means it is a technical problem, you will need to contact your mechanic that that repairs car stereo.

Take care.

Are you sure you are selecting the correct INPUT? You say it working, I assume you mean, it's spinning and appears to be playing but you do not hear any sound, is it turned up? These unit often have faults with their laser heads and due to the constant re-reading, due to vibration, they seem to wear out faster than normal. You are probably going to have to replace the laser assembly. It should not be too costly a job. You could, try a cleaning kit, but I doubt it would help.

Hi,i think you should reset your kenwood unit, after doing this the problem ought to be solved,if the problem persists, you may have to check on the wiring harness of your head unit for the cd wires maybe loose, try checking the speaker wirings too.

Thanks and have a nice day

If you turn the disc upside down and it says no disc, your player is reading the disc just fine. If it seems like its playing (track timer is counting as song plays), then I would guess its an audio problem. Disconnected harness in the back for the speakers or if you have a seperate amplifier (aftermarket or factory), it could be disconnected or broke.
