Dell latitude 10 st2 e wont boot

Hi voyagerbooks,

Request you to try following the below steps which might help:

    (1)Turn off the computer.
(2)Remove all the external peripherals like AC Adaptor, flash drives, battery, etc.
(3)Press and hold the power button for 30 sec which releases the static on the computer (if any)
(4)Put back the battery and plug in the AC Adaptor.
(5)Let the computer charge for some time.
    (6)Try turning on the computer.

If the computer doesn't turn on then check if the computer gives any series of beeps or if there are any diagnostics LEDs shown on it.

    Thanks and Regards.

I have an acer aspire 5100 and here recently the

Could be a bad battery and/or charger/AC Adaptor/DC Connector. Try to isolate the problem by removing the battery and then plugging the laptop charger in and starting the pc up. It should boot on the AC adapter alone. If it won't boot on the AC adaptor or it flickers and flashes while on the AC adaptor, I would first suspect the AC adaptor or the DC connector on the laptop (try wiggling the power plug at the PC to try and check the connector). If it behaves while on the AC adaptor without the battery present, I would suspect the battery. Either way, you may have to replace something.

Dell latitude d520 starts with battery but not with ac adaptor

It could be a bad adapter, a short that drags everything down when plugged in.. could be a short inside the computer doing the same thing.

Borrow an adapter to see if you get the same result, if a friend or shop will help you with that.

A digital VOM could tell you if the right voltage is being put out by the adapter. Read on it, if it's supposed to be DC voltage and you get AC, the adapter is bad.

The laptop would not boot up. It was hooked up to an external screen and then a few hours later, there was nothing on the screen. It wont boot up into a POST screen

Dead Laptop?

Try firstly removing the laptop's battery as it may be at a critical voltage and the system will not start because of it. Plug in your ac adaptor and monitor what happens. Does the power light illuminate? If it does it should then boot up, if it doesn't, try a known good ac adaptor before going any further.
If the adaptor is fine then you have a mother board fault and should contact a dealer/repairer for further advice.
Hope this helps.

My laptop wont charge. if i unplug the ac adapter and plug it again it wont charge... how to fix it?

Check for physical damages on the power cord or teh power brick try it as well on a different Laptop if it does the same thing if the adaptor works fine in a different laptop try plugging the adaptor without the battery on the system try unplugging and plugging it back in if it will work properly without the battery then most probably either your battery needs to be replaced or your systems Motherboard....

also you can try updating system BIOS which is risky, check your Manufacturers website or call them for any information about BIOS updates for the system.

I have a new e627 used only once before today. Battery connection was partially out and screen indicated low battery. After five minutes screen went black and now I cannot power up.

Maybe your battery is totally drained.

Try to connect the AC adaptor of your laptop and plug it to the wall outlet and let it charge for 3 hours or more. When you plug it on the wall socket, it won't show the laptop's led blinking since it was totally drained. But after 3 minutes or more, it will start to show the blinking led to indicate charging. When blinking stops led light disappears, it is fully charged and ready to use.

Remember: Do not use your laptop while it is plugged in to save your battery life. When at home, remove the battery while it is fully charged and plug the AC adaptor directly to the wall outlet. It will still work without the battery as long as it is plugged directly to the wall socket.

First try to start on safe mode.
to start on safe mode:
reboot your Pc
hold F8 while system starts
and when you are taken to safe mode
choose start with safe mode option
i may take you in to your desktop.
if it does not work then
you need can either do whole backup in to another external drive using ghost software or
just take off HDD and plug in to External hard drive reader (you can buy in market in cheap price) and plug in to another computer and copy your whole profile so you will have all data whatever you have on it.

Good luck.

Plug in battery, power light and fan noise cycles on and off

I think it probably went into hibernate. Remove the battery while unplugged from the a/c adaptor for a few minutes. Plug it into the a/c adaptor, and see if it will boot up.

Defintely getting power, but not switching on.

There are several possibilities. Let's start with the easiest two. First the battery, take it out and try starting up only with the power supply. Then the memory chips. If a memory chip fails it can cause a no start in IBM's. Take the memory out and try it. Then try it, putting them in one at a time. If these don't work, then I'm afraid your problem lies within. Namingly the power management chip on the motherboard. The pm chip controls the power input, and allows such functions as switching between battery and AC, and battery charging. The pm chip can go without warning, and just because it lights and shows charging doesn't mean this chip hasn't malfunctioned. I've had several IBM's come through my shop that have experienced the same problem you're describing. I've also had them with problems like; it will only power with the battery, won't charge the battery, will charge battery and only run with battery shuts down while charging, only power under AC, etc... all pm chip related issues. Unfortunately, the only solution is motherboard replacement.
